Most clubs are well underway with preseason in what will be a massively different year of footy ahead. Points i have noted so far are:
1- The points system being introduced is confusing a lot of clubs whom i don't believe truly understand how it works especially on "where players have played previously" - As per the recent article on-line, i found it confusing that 2 particular clubs (1 in A and 1 in
can recruit the calibre of player that they have (coupled with the existing players on there list) and have room to squeeze them all in on game day. Not sure these players will want to rotate between the 1's and 2's each week? I imagine that the PFL would be laughing at the lists that some clubs have submitted so far and will be interesting to see how this unfolds as the season gets closer. The fact that the players allocated points appear on the gameday team sheet when printed out will see some pretty interesting team selections play out
2- Increase in players going bush - Good harvests in a number of country towns will see a lot of players go and play bush for seriously high amounts of $$$$ / coupled with the points system which will affect a Local clubs ability to recruit (well should do for some clubs anyway) considering Ammos players don't get paid (Cough Cough)
3- Rumour has it that numbers are down on the track for a lot of clubs for season 2019 so far - will be interesting to see how this unfolds come round 1
4- The clubs are going to need to educate there supporters on the additional 12 rule changes being introduced this season otherwise the umpires will cop more verbals than they do now. I find it hard to believe in this competition that the umpires are expected to learn and adapt and apply these new rules in such a short space of time when they struggled a bit last year with what was already in place?
Still 7 weeks until round 1 but i feel things will really heat up leading up to this once the clubs come to grips with how the points work!
