With A grade relegation done & dusted and if B grade goes according script the nxts yrs A grade will consist of
2 x Freo sides ,CBC & Nth Freo,2 x Uni sides Trinity & Uni & 6 x sides in the Nth corridor, Wembley,
Nth Beach, Scarborough, KIngsley and the 2 x Wanneroo sides in Kingsway & Wanneroo.
To further compound this 2 of the other B grade clubs in finals are more Nth Corridor clubs in Mt Lawley & Whitfords!
What has happened to the other community football areas especially in the Eastern & Sth regions which were dominant areas in the Old Sunday league days?
Why has the Northern corridor become so much stronger than the other areas?

They’re the clubs that spend up and Because thats the way the league and these teams want it.

Discipline and dedication.

Wanneroo , Kingsway, Whitfords, North Beach and Kingsley have good junior systems. Junior football is very healthy and well organized in the northern corridor. Numbers from the WAFC support this.

Most of the A grade clubs get there numbers from the PSA football program, if you are playing first grade for your school you then have a good chance of then getting invited down to a preseason with a WAFL club, from there if you don’t get selected you go to were either most of your mates have gone (E.G, if you have gone to trinity college chances are you will play for TAs)
Some clubs have good alignment with WAFL clubs were if a player is not getting a game they go to that selected club or even in Scarborough’s situation they attract old mates back to the club.
I think even some clubs, but I’m not 100% sure on this one. North Beach have a good affiliation with some of the countrie clubs and get players that way, but like I said I’m not 100% sure on that.

Not really a new issue Old Timer

Over the last 20+years A Grade has been predominantly western and northern suburbs teams with TAs, Curtin Uni Wesley, North Freo and Fremantle CBC flying the flag for the south based teams.

Wanneroo, Whitfords, Stirling, Hamersley Carine, North Beach, Scarborough, West Coast, Mt Lawley, Uni, Wembley, Collegians have all participated in A Grade. Add in Kingsway this season and the likelihood that Kingsley will debut next year.

The majority of these clubs have good juniors and depth in their reserves and colts teams.

Kalamunda, Kelmscott and Maddington are the only eastern based clubs to make it into A Grade and none have had the depth of quality players to really make an impact.

Kelmscott is an excellent, we run and well supported Junior Club. Gosnells and Huntingdale (who have adjoining grounds similar to Swan Valley/Swan Athletic) are growing. Maddington Juniors appear to be all but dead. Piara Waters is growing rapidly, but being in a brand new suburb, it will be a few more years before Colts players appear. From all reports, Thornlie Juniors are doing pretty well.

All is not lost in the SE suburbs, but I suspect it will be another few years before too many make A Grade.

In the SW, Warnbro is making strides in that direction.

And in the north east Ballajura is doing well winning five colts premierships in a row and finishing top in C1 league and reserves
