Getting towards the business end now and with a tight ladder and Bulcreek starting to play some good footy, there is still life in this season. With only 4 points between the second place Willetton and Sixth place Carlisle there will be some quality games played in the coming weeks especially as most of those sides are also fighting for spots in the ressies top 5.
Willetton vs Stirling
Willetton should be happy with a easier game this week and should build percentage to help them hold onto second spot. Stirling will be trying to get to round 17 with their reserves. Willetton by plenty
Melville vs Kenwick
Melville should get the bickies in this game at home but they don’t want to underestimate Kenwick who have upset some good teams recently
Quinns District vs Ballajura
Quinns are a proud club who were in B grade 2 years ago and will be hurting sitting at the bottom of the ladder. They won’t go down without a fight only going down to Gossies by less than a kick last week. They have some good banter with Ballajura and this week should be no different. Balla to win
Carlisle vs Bullcreek Leeming
Carlisle need the win to stay in touch with the pelaton but Bullcreek are on the march and could cause the upset of the round. Would be a great game to watch and im thinking the home side could just hold on.
Bassendean vs Gosnells
MOTR. This is 3V4 with the loser possibly slipping out of the top five. Should be a great game at Jubilee and with the high stakes im thinking Bassendean will want it more and win by a couple.

Indigenous round this weekend, so lets all get behind the greats of the past, current and future. Wear the red bands with pride and have a great weekend of footy in what might be a bit wet

Nice write up Iozza.

With this Saturday marking Bastille Day, I've decided a Tour De France theme will be fitting for this weeks previews.

Bonjour
Willo v Stirling
Probably not much to say about this game, shoud be fait de complet here, with Stirling close to be disqualified for falling too far behind the Peloton. Only a punctured tyre will stop Willo from winning easily.
Willo by Dix Buts More (French for 10 goals plus)

Melville v Kenwick
Melville off close lose in what appeared to be a very good game will be seething, Kenwick starting to drop off the pace as we head towards the summit. Can't see Melville dropping this at home.
Melville by Quatre Buts

Quinns v Balla
Balla have held the Yellow Jersey since stage 1 and will be looking forward to toasting themselves with some champas on the ride in the Champs Elysees. Even a crash this weekend against the Bulls wont stop them from locking up top spot, I can't see that happening and Quinns may have to come back via the Tour Down Under as losing this sees them almost consigned to relegation for sure.
Balla by Quinze Buts

Carlisle v Bull Creek
Well the Creek have earned the Polka Dot guernsey as the king of the mountain after clawing themselves off 10th spot to sit potentially 7th after this wekeend. Their escape from relegation has only been bettered by the Thai boys out of a cave this week! Carlisle have been sitting in the Peleton for some time now, this could be the week for them to make a breaway play to burst into the 5. But I cant go past the creeks winning form here, on the back of their big lumbering forward.
Creek by Deux Buts.

Basso v Gossies
This is for the Green Jersey I feel as the winner will entrench themselves in the 5 while the loser flirts with missing out on the five. Hard to pick this one, could be a photo finish. But; by half a wheel length I like Gossies just despite being away.
Gossies by less than Un Buts.

That's enough from me, best of luck to all teams, may the winners enjoy some escargot with a baguette and some fromage!

Je vous remercie

I can't embed tweets on here but someone on Twitter mentioned the game between Melville and Kenwick was called off due to fights with the result to be determined in due course.

Good evening all
Past Players Day Down At Melville a great day
For club winning both colts&preserves and a packed
Balcony on deck, until 4 mins to go in the 4th
Quarter and Kenwick gets two yellow cards
And game calked off at this stage they trailed by
8 goals.
No.26 absolutely deplorable for the royals
Complete circus

Five reports apparently and unacceptable umpire abuse after the game including beimg spat on. Surely we can do better than this!! The club responsible needs some severe sanctions ny the league.

Disgusting behaviour if that’s the case and I hope all involved are hit with lengthy bans. Umpires in ammo’s are thinning out every year and no matter what players/fans think of them, if we don’t have them we don’t have a game!
Am interested to know what caused the events to happen? I.e late hits, scraps/biffs etc
Past players day at the mud pen with a fully loaded balcony would make a pretty intimidating environment with plenty of “noise affirmation”

I can shed some light as i was pretty close to it (on the bench about 5m from it at the time not involved to be clear).
there was a bit of a late tackle on one of our young fellas so one of our boys came came in to remonstrate followed by a few from either side then it all devolved. I didn't see any proper punches thrown from either side just wrestling and push and shove with a few jumper punches. I could be wrong on that as I said I was on the bench for the most part and it went for a while.
the whole thing probably could've been stopped if the umpires had stepped in at the beginning but they both seemed content to sit back and let it go then they called the game for being too dangerous.
I heard the umpires cop a bit from both our supporters and the Balcony after the game was called, I didn't see or hear about the spitting until i read it here so i can't comment on that.
5 red cards all up 3 to Kenwick and 2 to Melville all for "Rough Conduct" plus probably a melee fine for both clubs

Umpires had to be escorted to their cars as well which is simply not acceptable that this was necessary at any level

The Bullcrap flows on this one.

Clarkson 14 has most of it right. There were no punches, just a bit of push and shove, but a fair few doing it. Umpires may have over reacted in my view by calling it off.
No one spat on anyone
umpires were not escorted to cars as it was required.
Melville got the points and all cards are yellow as no punches were thrown.

It was not bull crap a few rounds back when about 4 Kenwick players threatened an umpire in the carpark after the Quinn’s match. So gut says it probably isn’t bull crap happening again 3 weeks later.

Interested to see the leagues response..
