Round 12 is done and dusted in what appears to be a very interesting round of footy with some unexpected results.
Bassendean 12.11-83 def Quinns 10.8-68
Expected result but it looks like Quinns really took it up to Basso.
It would be interesting to know if the swans led all day.
Ballajura 19.16- 130 def Carlisle 9.8-62
Ballajura would have been fired up to put their authority back on the league after a close game last week. However Carlisle have been in Some great form lately knocking of 3 of the top 5 sides and only losing to willetton by less than a kick, so they would have fancied themslelves at home. They would be hoping this was just an off day.
Bull Creek 14.6-90 def Kenwick 7.7-49
Very interesting game. A battle between two teams heading in opposite directions. Kenwick defied preseason expectations early in the season by winning 4 of the first 7. It appears the wheels have well and truly off since then as apart from a flat track performance against a flailing Stirling they have been disappointing to say the least. Should have enough wins now to avoid relegation but this is the Kenwick everyone expected earlier this year. Bull creek however have been somewhat the opposite. Early season troubles with a coach sacking and it showed on the field. But it appears they have put the first 9 rounds behind them with 2 wins and competitive outing against the ladder leaders in the last 3 rounds. The wins haven't been against anyone you would write home about but nonetheless their tails will be up and will be looking to take a scalp against an old rival in Melville next week.
Willetton 14.14-98 def Gosnells 9.10-64
Gosnells continue to be an enigma, would be frustrating as a coach to be part of that roller coaster ride. Willetton appear to be the real deal in what appears to be a race of 3 right now and got it done easily. The big test is this week against Balla, Can they stand up to the pressure and intensity that Ballajura as it looks like to play a more outside skill based brand of footy. We'll have a better idea of where they are at this time next week.
Melville 19.13-127 def Stirling 6.9-45
Melville get it done easily in this one. Could have been a lot worse for Stirling as some bad kicking at goal cost them at least 3-4 goals in the last quarter. They needed the percentage as a few bad performances earlier in the season really hurt them. Stirling are really struggling and it appears that the club is in some peril. No colts really hurts a clubs development and they have lost a lot of their seniors over the course of the season. I would say at least half a dozen of the league team had to double up in the earlier game. Hopefully they can Turn it around next year starting with a colts program.
With 7 rounds left Here is how the ladder shapes up with some possible movement in the top 3/5 and what looks like will be a race between Quinns and Bull creek to stay in C1
