Frequent reader on here, first time poster! Seems to have gone quiet C1 last few weeks, hopefully get some more banter going....

Over halfway through the year now, I think Ballajura are in a different league to the rest, and would take a monumentally bad Saturday to not be lifting the flag come September.

2nd -6th......anyone can beat anyone on their day!!! Think these 5 teams could finish in any order 2-6 come the end of year...

Melville....play their unique ground exceptionally well. Judging by scores, seemed to put up a very decent effort v balla...prob fav fir 2nd. One weakness, they may rely too heavily on the big full forward....who is a dead set gun.

Carlisle. ...a real workmanlike club, no real stars, get the job done, very rarely are uncompetitive.

Gosnells.....extremely skilful, can blow away anyone on their day. But not consistent enough for my liking, and dusclioibe csn be an issue...

Willeton....good honest side, tipping them to pip basso for 5th

Basso....see gosnells above. Same applies.

Then we come to kenwick, with 5 wins already, no real danger of getting relegated, but won't be making the 5. They beat gosnells away, and then lost to bottom side Quinn's. Sums them up. Disclione a huge issue here (a little birdie tells me there may have been an incident with an umpire after the game on Saturday that we may here more about..) they will upset some of the top sides coming home, but drop games they should win, and hence won't make 5.

Quinn's. Very important win on Saturday.,the roubd 16 game between Quinn's and bull reel will dictate who stays in C1 next year....I'm tipping the bulls

Bullcreek....not actually tat bad a team, as their record would indicate, a percentage of 80 is not normally associated with a 2-9 record. They will beat a decent side st sine point during year, but will need to get past Quinn's in roubd 16 to stay up.

Stirling. A dead set basket case. After winning first 3 games, have not put up a fight since. I fade concerns for future if this once proud a grade club, let's hope they can turn it around...if not this season, but put together a plan to stabilise over the next 3 years.

Love to hear sine other thoughts :)

Diehard good write up mate and a fair assessment of where things stand presently in C1 League.

Hard fought game at Kingfisher on Saturday. Balla led all day and only had one able body left on the bench for a fair portion of the game with some not so nice injuries. Still enough depth to get them over the line though against Melville getting a taste of their own in front of the big Balla parochial crowd.
Luckily the Royals have great depth at the club and will hopefully be able to get everyone on the paddock and firing come finals to give the big dance a good crack on September 8th.

Agreed Major, hard game of footy from both sides. Melville took a 1 point lead in the 4th and looked like they might roll over the top of Balla but Melville had a 5 minute lapse which saw them concede 3 goals. Melville had most of the play in the last 10 minutes but Ballas defenders were able to restrict scoring. Melville were obviously disappointed to fall short but the overall margin between these sides for the season is only 12 points So it shows us we are there abouts with the best.

My thoughts

Balla- very good side whose midfield kick a lot of their goals. No real key forward that looks likely to kick a big bag. Likely to be in the big dance but may not win it. Seem to have pretty good structure and adapt well to game styles.

Willeton- a couple of big forwards that can win them games. Vulnerable down back and rely heavily on restricting opposition inside 50s. Will be a threat late in the year. Structure up pretty well.

Melville- big forward wins game off of own boot. Rely heavily on their home ground advantage. Can play off in the GF if they get a home final.

Gosnells- have lost a lot of fire power up forward. May struggle if games go into shoot outs. Plenty of midfield prowess.

Basso- very hard to read. Seem to rely heavily on quality players as opposed to structure. Coach has no idea. Will drop away second half of the season.

Carlisle- finding their feet and with Hunter up forward could potentially win more than they lose in the second half of the year.

Tips-
Gf Balla v Willeton
Premiers- Balla
