Massive weekend coming in C1, with some potentially season defining match ups ! We have a top of the table clash with the winner going a game clear, we have a bottom of the ladder clash and we have 4 of the 5 sides sitting on 12pts facing each other. Come Saturday night the ladder will look very different.

Melville (WLWWL) vs Willeton (LLLWW)
4th vs 8th, both on the same amount of wins thus is how tight the season in. Melville had one to forget last week playing a stinker away to Carlisle. You only have to look at their form line to see consistency is not their strong point, and with those wins coming with margins of 5, 6 and 5 there was an element of luck. Willeton came up against lowly Bullcreek and got the job done to register consecutive wins for the first time this year. They pushed Balla all the way in their most recent loss so have a great form line. On paper Willeton are probably the better side, but Melville are a significantly better side at home, and for that reason they have my tip by 11pts.

Bullcreek (LLLLL) vs Quinns (LLLLW)
Couple of sides struggling but lots to play for in this one. With another loss Bullcreek go 2 games clear on bottom and almost a certainty to be relegated on current form given they would be at least 3 wins away from 8th other results pending. For Quinns, they could go 2 clear of last or fall 2 games behind safety. Good win last week by the Bulls which would have given them some confidence. Quinns by 9pts for me.

Ballajura (WWWWW) vs Gosnells (WWWWL)
Who would have seen that Gosnells loss at home at the weekend coming? Definitely not me and I bet Mills Park was loud until the wee hours of the morning after that one. Ballajura took care of Bassendean in pretty easy fashion to extend their winning streak and don't seem to have broken a sweat since round 2. MOTR obviously with 1 vs 2, but a pretty easy tip in my view with Balla flexing their muscles and will inflct Gosnells their second loss of the season and 3rd in 18 months. Balla by 18pts.

Kenwick (WWLLW) vs Carlise (LLWWW)
Carlisle are on a bit of a winning streak, and made Melville look second rate on the weekend. Kenwick off the back of a close loss the previous week pulled off the upset of the season against old foe Gosnells. Bit like Eagles vs Richmond, this looked like a nothing fixture 4 rounds ago but now shapes as an absolute cracker and potential MOTR. I'm going to tip based on home ground advantage, Kenwick by 11 points.

Striling (WWLLL) vs Bassendean (WWWLL)
Both sides tell a tale of 2 halves of a season. Both started like a house on fire, both have found the last 3 and 2 weeks respectively a bit of a reality check. Stirlings depth was always going to be tested, 41 players have been used in their league team, the most of any club. And when you have no colts and reserves are averaging 100pt losses that makes things hard. Basso have just come up against the benchmark of the competition the last 2 weeks and haven't been good enough. They enter a stretch of more winnable games now which will buoy them with confidence. Balla too strong in this one, 25pts.

Best of luck for the weekend everyone. Cannot wait to see the results and what the ladder looks like in the aftermath. What a day we have Sunday too, there is no better way to close out the weekend than with the West Coast vs Richmond clash which should be match of the season so far. Eagles for me in this one by 11 pts.

Ventured down to Kingfisher today to watch the top of the table clash between Ballajura and Gosnells. Tight game for first quarter only. After that all one way traffic as Ballajura piled on the pressure and the goals. So much so that up until three quarter time Gossies only had 3 goals on the board. If Ballajura actually kicked a few more of their set shots the margin would have been far greater seeing they kicked 20 points for the afternoon. From the slick display I witnesses Ballajura will be in B grade next season and will be competitive.

Ventured down to Richard Guelfi today my old stomping ground. Watched a fairly competitve game in the first quarter before basso took my old side to the cleaners.
Have always had my doubts about basso and the type of club they r but they conducted themselves very well today.
Devastated about the way my old club looked but hopefully they had a few out today as they need a bit more quality to be competitive at this level.
Hats off to the committee and volunteers at my old
Club with the way they run their home games still! Top class.

Thanks for the couple of match reviews lads. Looks like Ballajura have found some rhythm and returned into premiership favoritism. Gosnells two losses in a row and looking slightly shaky. Sounds like the Stirling vs Basso games tells us more about the home team than the away one. Safe to say they are on the slide. Kenwick a good win over Carlisle, and Bullcreek notch their first win of the year and by a margin which sees them jump to 9th leaving Quinns on the bottom.

Another beautiful day for footy at Melville Reserve on Saturday. A 7 goal to 0 first qtr in the colts put that game out of reach. Full credit to Willeton for playing out the game and it was a reasonably even contest after that with Willeton dominating patches of play. The young Ramlings look to be building in their title defense with a top of the table clash looming with Basso in 2 weeks.

In the reserves, there was barely a kick in it all day, with a late goal to Willeton sealing the 9 point win. There was about 10mins in the 3rd qtr which was the real difference. Willeton getting a small buffer going into the last break which an inaccurate kicking Melville couldn't close. Much improved this year the Melville 2's, been the whipping boys of the past 3 years and seem to have found some depth and have been competitive. Willeton always had a strong reserves team and just know how to win games when their tight. Hopefully something Melville can pick us as they have lost 2 games now by 5 and 9 points, when really they had every right to win them.

Another heart stopper in the league, with Melville eventually winning by 14 thanks to some late goals in red time. They had a 5 goal lead at half time which was pretty much gone by the 20min mark of the 3rd, and Willeton periodically took the lead in the last to silence the Melville balcony. But the Rams found their contested footy best again and regained the lead before kicking away.
