Well we roll into round 6 with every side with a win on the board, and the competition looking very even at the moment. This was a very hard to week to pick a game of the round in thats for sure.

Scarborough vs Kingsway @Abbett Park (MOTR)
I chose this game as the match of the round as both these sides are in form and this could be closer then what you think. Kingsway come off a sensational performance last week against a rather poor Curtin side, they moved the ball with ease & their forwards were unstoppable. Whereas Scarborough just kept on keeping on claiming a big scalp against bitter rivals North Beach, they move to a temporary home ground this week where they will have to adapt.
Scarborough by 2 Goals.

Wembley vs Trinity Aquinas @Pat Goodridge
Both these sides really need a win and this game is shaping up as one which could really shape the competition. Wembley come into the game after being blown away by wanneroo and find themselves five rounds in with only one win to take for it. Trinity Aquinas suprisingly are 2&3 and need to find a win here to stay in touch with the top 5. Trinity will be too strong here.
Trinity Aquinas by 5 Goals.

Curtin Uni Wesley vs Fremantle CBC @South Oval
A battle between two sides on opposite sides of the ladder with very different form. Fremantle CBC are flying at the moment and find themselves unbeaten after five with a very attractive brand of football. Curtins brand of football at the moment is certainly not attractive, a hundred point hiding from a side who had previously not won is a key indicator of that (Not to say they didnt have several players out). Curtin need to show something here but it would result in a victory.
Fremantle CBC by 7 Goals

Wanneroo vs Kalamunda @Showgrounds
Another battle between two very differently placed teams, and a game in which both sides need to find some form. Wanneroo have been extremely impressive this year and claimed their first scalp away from home in convincing style against a disappointing wembley side. Kalamunda are seriously struggling at the moment but will take a fair bit out of their showing last week after coming within two kicks against University. This week however will be very different at the Showgrounds.
Wanneroo by 12 Goals.

University vs North Beach @McGillvrary
Both North Beach and University have struggled with their consistency so far this season and both will be looking to change that this week. North Beach had a bit of a reality check last week against the pole leaders of the competition and will realise that they need a bit of improvement to go deep into finals. University have had some really good performances but also a lot of very average performances and will be looking for a very good showing this week against a contender.
North Beach by 5 Goals.

Thanks Boothead

Wow, what a difference 2 weeks makes. You were at a loss with Kingsway, now they are your MTOR against the ladder leaders. That is why we love this game.

Scarborough v Kingsway
Thanks to strong performances from Kingsway the last couple a weeks, they will take in a great deal of confidence to this game. However Scarborough are playing a good brand of footy and I think they will continue their undefeated run, only just.
Scarborough 1 goal.

Wembley v Trinity
Wembley will be hurting following their loss under lights and at home to the Roos but I can not see them getting close to a Trinity Aquinas side who will be looking to put a string of wins together in the back end of this round.
Trinity 8 goals.

Curtin Uni v Fremantle C.B.C
Curtin Uni will find some consistency in the near future but it will not be against the ladder leaders.
Fremantle 8 goals.

Wanneroo v Kalamunda
Wanneroo will be looking to continue their unbeaten run at the Showgrounds and will be excited to get back there after 2 games away. Kalamunda put in a very strong performance last week and will be confident of a victory.
Wanneroo at home in a tough contest 3 goals.

University v North Beach MOTR
I've made this my match of the round because both clubs are strong and will be at the top end of the ladder come the end of the year.
North Beach by 1 goal.

Good luck to all.

Well it is another week down and we are nearly a third of the way through the season as things start to get interesting.
While others are in lockdown due to the State Budget MrM is here bringing you this weekends’ football and other somewhat related topics goodness for all to enjoy. MrM likes to liken himself to the U.S Coastguard, while others are afraid of the weather conditions, or any other extreme element thrown their way MrM is always here, punching the card for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Using the company $$ might not be the best way to endear oneself to corporate big wigs, but MrM knows best.
Under the Federal budget MrM is already better off in life, so things are looking up for MrM as ScMO said MrM will save $10 per week under his plans. Due to his generous nature and demeanour MrM has decided that $10 will be invested back into my loyal subscriber’s pockets. For MrM has some grand plans to make use of this $10...If you are interested in finding out more, contact MrM and he can discuss with how MrM’s scheme will also benefit you.

Boothead you are doing a marvellous job and MrM does not care what other folks are saying about you, behind your back, you are alright with me.
Keep up the good work my dearest friend for you could be the recipient of a MrM prize.

Alrighty then, let us have a look at this weekend’s fixtures.

Scarborough v Kingsway @Abbett Park

Now Boothead, who knows what party substance you consumed on Saturday after your teams first win but this is definitely not MrM’s MOTR. Side note, MrM has many a story to tell about his time playing cricket @Abbett Park...but we digress.
Scarborough is undefeated and will only get better (That’s right, you can do better than perfect) and I think being at home, away from home will hold them in good stead. They get a lot of drive from the midfield to their big forward line and it will be up to Kingsway to stop that. Kingsway had a very convincing win at home, and one of their strengths is the midfield, but I can’t see their backline stopping Scarborough’s forwards.
Scarborough by 5 goals

Wembley v Trinity Aquinas @Pat Goodridge Reserve

Well the men from Wembley would be very disappointed with their performance last weekend and will want to atone for that this Saturday. It is just a pity they face a TA’s side who fell just short against one of the benchmarks of the competition. TA’s looked very good when MrM saw them and I think they will be very good again this weekend. I can see it being another tough day for Wembley.
Trinity Aquinas by 5 goals

Curtin University Wesley v Fremantle CBC @South Oval

It is fair to say that Curtin Uni were embarrassed last weekend and they will not want that performance to be the norm too often, but they come up against a Freo CBC side that is looking very good so far this season. Freo CBC have yet to drop a game, and have had a few close one sin recent weeks. I can see this game being close, but I still think Freo will get it done.
Fremantle CBC by 4 goals

Wanneroo v Kalamunda @Wanneroo Showgrounds

Wanneroo managed to bounce back last weekend after being quite underwhelming the week before. Back at home this weekend they will be hoping to give their fans something to keep cheering about, but they face the boys from the hills looking to kick start their season. Kalamunda put in a good showing last week, but will need more than that for the rest of the season if they want to make something happen in 2018. It may be a task to far for the Kalamunda boys here though.
Wanneroo by 3 goals

University v North Beach @UWA Sports Park MOTR

Given MrM expects these two sides to be their right at the pointy end of the season, it is this weekend’s Match Of The Round.
University has a good win away from home and that will definitely boot their confidence when they face a premiership contender in North Beach this weekend. The boys from Royal Chas let one slip at home last weekend albeit to a very good side and will be out to correct that this weekend as they will not want to lose touch with the tip 2 of the ladder. I think the Uni boys may get a sneaky win here.
University by 2 goals

Good luck to all this weekend, MrM hopes you do not lose too many gents away to some silly festival down South. MrM has heard 45players could be out just for the Roos alone...So good luck filling sides all...

Well some uninteresting results from this past weekend.
Scarborough over Kingsway in boothead MOTR
Freo CBC beats Curtin Uni
TA’s over Wembley
North Beach beat UNI in MrM’s MOTR (way better than other games)
As for Wanneroo, well they continued with a Simon over Kalamunda.

MrM settled himself in for a fantastic day up in the six-oh-six-five, the sun was shining birds chirping and MrM knew it was going to be a good day for football. This was despite the fact Wanneroo were missing over 45 players due to a concert down South, MrM could sense something was in the works.

Wanneroo Colts lost a closely fought game by the barest of margins but it was a good game and set a nice tone for the day.
The Reserves, well this game was not a very good advertisement for the game, but Wanneroo managed to come away with the win, MrM spent the time watching WCE overcome GWS and treating himself to some deep fried lightly salted potato goodness...always has a place in MrM’s heart.

MrM was definitely looking forward to League game as we all knew Kalamunda would come out firing again this week.
Wanneroo started well and never looked back right from the first bounce and ran out 11 goal winners.
Whatever is in the water up Kalamunda way, who knows but MrM has never seen such size on amateur footballers...they would be the biggest team MrM has seen. Things they must do up in Kalamunda, lift weights and visit the tattoo parlour (or eat a lot of bubble gum ...) MrM was impressed though.

Would like to hear Boothead thoughts on his MOTR.

Saturday really showed just how classy & unrelenting scarborough are. Kingsway were within 10 points at about the 7 minute mark, but lost just a tad of focus & all of a sudden 10 minutes later they were 6 goals down. Learning curve for sure for our young side but we will learn from it. Scarborough need to use this talent while they are still playing for the next couple of years, and from what i saw on saturday i think it will be their year.

See you thursday ✌
