Over a month into the season now, and C1 football (well Gosnells at least) finds itself in the news for the second week in a row. After 4 rounds we are probably no closer to knowing what the final 5 may look like with the comp as even as it has ever been. One thing we have learnt however is the C2 promoted boys mean business this year and aren't easy points!
Bullcreek vs Carlisle
Two different stories between these sides last week. Bullcreek a close loss to rivals Melville in a bruising affair to continue their winless streak, whilst Carlisle had a big win at home over the previously undefeated Stirling. Bullcreek showed good signs last week, but their lack of endeavor when it comes to winning contested ball would be a worry. Have to tip on form in this one, so I will go Carlisle by 11 points but would not surprise if the Creek win.
Gosnells vs Bassendean MOTR
Easily MOTR, if I wasn't playing I would probably drive to Gosnells to watch this. C2 Grand Final replay with Basso inflicting Gosnells first and only defeat last year in the big dance. 2 big weeks off field for Gosnells, the latest one self-inflicted with their behavior and past stereotypes pulled into question. Basso the silent assassins, just going about it week by week however this is their first real big test. This will be a cracker, Basso by 1 point.
Ballajura vs Quinns
Balla returned to their winning ways with a close one against Willeton, on the other hand Quinns beaten (literally!) comfortably at home by Gosnells to remain on the bottom of the ladder without a W. Its ominous signs for Quinns, lost 4 games they would have believed a chance of winning in all and lost them all quite comfortably. Balla easily in this one, 48 points.
Kenwick vs Melville
2 teams sitting 2-2 a piece and both would fancy their chances of going ahead of the ledger in this one. Kenwick coming off a loss last week which was probably not a surprise. Melville coming off a win vs the Creek at home which was closer than they would have hoped. Melville's form has been good the last 3 weeks. Beat Balla, 9 changes to the league side that won that game and only lost by 2 points to Stirling, and then beating the Creek at home the following. They are building momentum, and should win this by 22 points.
Stirling vs Willeton
Stirling would be in shock after such a comprehensive lost to Carlisle on the weekend. Not a great way to silence the critics of your 3-0 start. Willeton took it right up to Balla but couldn't finish the job, sitting 1-3, and fearing that another loss this week to drop to 1-4 and its long way back. Willeton's reserves will win by 160 points, and their league will follow with a 15 point win.
