Fair dinkum Vaider, if the thing in football you are most concerned about is having a beer "in the trenches" and sorting out a carton for the oppo, I would say you are on the fast track to Z grade champ

'uber cool'?? Speaking like that makes you sound like you are more interested with the shower with the boys at the end of the game than a beer.

In your first comment on the opening page you said it was a "dog act" to sting people for individual beers. If charging $4 a beer is a "dog act" then we may as well all get kennels instead of club rooms seeing as we'd all be dogs.
Can't beat that taste...

Been involved in A grade for over 10 years and we always sell cartons to opposition clubs (1 per team), usually for $40-$50 depending on their preference. Always reciprocated with similar pricing.

In our lower grades however it’s a bit more hit and miss with some bars not even open for the boys.

And your nickname is Bob Down? Sounds like you know all about the showers and the soap.

Correct, but It's not the individual that pays for the first beer it's the club so you are missing my point by calling me the tight ass.

If you're going to come to a game of amatuer football at a grassroots club, you're not going to get the royal treatment. I appreciate that you were willing to buy a carton fron us but the reality is we couldn't sell it to you. You would've been better having a couple of beers at our rooms and then travelling to an actual bottle shop to by your carton. Its better not to sell cartons at games purely because not everyone will drink the same beverage, hence why you buy it from the bar. Secondly, it is important to us to make sure our visitors are not having too much as we have had police hiding around the corner hoping to catch drink drivers. Its a duty of care. So nexct time you go to a lub, buy a few beers from the bar and enjoy it, you not only get what you want, but the club does too and does it by the rules.

Read this thread last week and definitely supported Southern Rivers stance... But...

I think some of their supporters need to take a good hard look at themselves and actually consider the impression they give others of their club.

On the weekend a couple of guys and a girl from Southern River saw it fit to bring an esky full of their own alcohol into our venue and drink openly in a non-licenced area. Unfortunately when my misses (with kids in tow) ask them to stop drinking their own alcohol and at worse move to the licenced area (clearly marked/defined) - they ignored her and continued to drink.

Pretty disappointing as we are no different from you guys in trying to operate inside of the licencing rules.

DB.

I have never understood the bring your own esky thing, yes you save money but you look like a tool and have to hide your drinks, much better getting in the licensed area and banter with the locals!

i dont condone what happened at your ground dickkyboy and if i had seen them i would have had a word with them aswell. but one suggestion about your liscenced area it was way to small you had pretty much the entire ressies team in there drinking and there was no room to move for other ppl who wanted to have a beer and watch an exciting game of footy. we will always try and abide by the rules but when you cant move in the area it is kinda hard to enjoy your drink. just a suggestion thats all. hope you guys have a great year.
