Heard over the weekend that Warwick-Greenwood will be bringing their teams over from the Metro Football League to the WAAFL for the 2018 season. Naturally, this would mean that the Bulls come in at C4 level and eliminate the bye caused by the merger of Maddington and Piara Waters.

Any other clubs coming over from the MFL (e.g. the other two-team clubs - Queens Park, Midland and Brighton) or is there a possibility of a new club forming from one of the newer suburbs of Perth?

Still a bye as will be 9 teams if they do join. Kelmscott are out and Maddington/Piara Waters merger. Piara Bulls 1s and 2s in B grade, with Piara Bulls 3s and 4s in D2 grade.

Somehow I forgot about Kelmscott. I've slipped into cricket mode.
BTW my reference to the Bulls was for WG Bulls not PW Bulls - hope that didn't confuse anyone!

The amateurs didnt want Queens Park back in 2013,so they joined the MFL. 3 flags in 5 years its a great community club and will only get stronger.A move now to the amateurs is unlikely as they share the oval with another C3 club

We have always enjoyed the rivalry between Warwick/greenwood and us,good blokes and I wish them the best

Warwick Greenwood have applied to cross to the amateurs, the application is yet to be approved. As I understand it neighbouring clubs can object however we already have an established list and are hopeful this won’t be the case. The club has appointed a new Reserves coach for 2018 and is confident that with the number of former Bulls returning that we can be competitive at Amateur level next year and beyond

why would neighbouring clubs say yes?
It may not effect clubs such as north beach, kingsley & kingsway
But it would be a major problem for clubs like stirling & hamersley carine who are both struggling to have a sustainable future, both dont have colts sides & if warwick greenwood joined it would just drag more juniors away from WGJFC.

Personally Boothead I would hope those clubs mentioned would put faith in their own people and processes to guide their positively into the future and not jump at the possible shadow of some competition. We as a club are not out to negatively impact on anyone else's path, we are here to give our own members and club as a whole the same opportunity to grow on and off the field and this is seen by us as a big step forward.
I would also hope that any club with concerns would be open to a direct open dialog with our club rather than attempt to stunt our hard work.
