WAAFL C3 Grand Final week, when we get to pay to watch players play who don't get paid themselves.... or even offered travel money. The game is at Canning's home ground Wyong Reserve (also formally Snesa's home ground) and as the colts are out with the C4 finals at Forster Park, gates won't open until 10:45. I hear whispers that the old turf pitch that used to make life hell is now grassed over and isn't the mud patch that even landcruisers would get stuck in. With the BOM hedging their bets and offering a prediction of a 10% chance of rain over the next 3 days but possible rainfall of 0mm, the oval should be in great nick after it was apparently a little soft underfoot on the weekend.

3rd - Ellenbrook
A disappointing end to the season with the Raiders getting over the top in front of a big crowd at the DOS, unfortunately the Eels fell short of the big dance again. With 8 colts aged players out there on the weekend, it would have been a good learning curve for them and the coach knows where he needs to go from now after his first season in charge. With the colts also bowing out, it's all hands on deck in supporting the reserves this weekend.

League: Snesa v Dianella @ 14:30
Rd 5 - Snesa 14.10-94 defeated Dianella 8.13-61
Rd 15 - Dianella 11.6-72 lost to Snesa 11.15-81

The Raiders will be riding high after propelling themselves into C2 with a dominant display after 1/4 time on Saturday - they definitely looked like the team who held top spot for so long during the home and away season. Expect them to be quick out of the blocks with 4 & 7 likely to put their hands up for the BOG medal if DM get up. It will be interesting to see if 28 is back in the middle or up forward again this week after his efforts on Saturday. They have a good spread of talent across the park and a couple of stars with genuine x-factor.The Saints on the other hand will be well rested with only 1 game over the last 3 weeks but don't expect them to come out slowly. They've been training hard and have reacquainted themselves with the old stomping grounds in preparation for this final game of 2017. They have watched Dianella v Ellenbrook twice over the last few weeks so will be well aware of what is coming their way. Bayswaters/Cobras favourite ruckman proved to be a handful for Ellenbrook and no doubt this has been taken into consideration by the coach who has the team as well drilled as I can remember. This is the opportunity for Snesa to win their first league flag since 1997 and for the coach to get his personal trifecta. I'm tipping they will, Snesa to win.

Reserves:Piara v Ellenbrook @ 12:00
Rd 6 - Piara 2.5-17 lost to Ellenbrook 11.7-73
Rd 14 - Ellenbrook 12.6-78 defeated Piara 5.6-36
SF2 - Ellenbrook 7.7-49 lost to Piara 10.8-68

Piara's last game before they merge and they have a chance for a flag against a side they've played many times across the years starting back from when they were Southern River. They are the only side to beat Ellenbrook this year and would be full of confidence. Jenko gave the midfielders first use last time and allowed them to run in waves which put the Eels backline under pressure all day. Lesson learnt and the Eels rebounded last week against Cottesloe. They will be looking to take that momentum into this game and finish the year the way they have played most of it. Ellenbrook to win.

Great wright up whitey. Yes you are correct there is a layer of grass over the mud area but a small bit of rain or even a bit dewy over night will make the ground and game interesting.
With the game being held a canning and the potential for both clubs going up to C2 (depending what happens with piara) know doubt there will be a few canning boys around to checkout what there up against next year.

Grade: C3
Snesa 11.10-76 lost to Dianella 14.15-99

Grade: C3R
Piara 8.3-51 lost to Ellenbrook 12.6-78

Good win by the Eels with the BOG going to the player that iced his day with 3 last quarter goals. One player received his medallion back at the club when he got back from hospital after being KO'd 5 mins into the game. As the ressies coach said in his speech, not the GF we wanted to be in but we'll take the flag.

Didn't watch the league game but did hear a few comments from the crowd made to the DM ruckman about "travel money" and "club wrecker" - it's something that will follow him but tonight he's a premiership player. Looks like inaccurate kicking kept SNESA in the game - unfortunately for them a couple of players missing with other commitments may have hurt them a little more than expected. Well done on both sides in reaching C2 and to the Raiders on the flag. I hear DM #7 won BOG?? I don't want to say I told you so but.....

Well done all on a good 2017 and bring on next year.
