Well with two rounds to go the ladder is still wide open...for the Top 5 anyway with a variety of things that may happen, which makes for some excitement. With a few good games this weekend we will know more at 5pm Saturday afternoon, but for now we can just sit here and speculate.

MrM is excited to see how the season will play out from abroad and will be keeping everyone in close check, especially to those who call out MrM then crawl back to where they came from. Hang around, join in the fun and do not be scared off by the might and power of MrM.
Some exciting games this weekend let us look at them right now.

Swan Athletic v Mt Lawley @Fawell Park

This is definitely a MOTR worth type contest, but unlucky to miss out this week. Swan Ath need a win here to secure themselves a top 3 finish and a double chance. If they don’t win they could fall as far as 4th or 5th (who knows) so they will need to stop the distribution towards the “Brothers of Destruction”. Mt Lawley got the upset win last weekend which has helped them out in the ladder as they can still finish as high as 3rd. MrM thinks they can cause an upset here against the Ath.
Mt Lawley by 2 goals

Collegians v Maddington @Dalkeith Oval

Collegians will be relying on results to go their way if they want to play finals this season, they simply just need to do their part and win games of football. Maddington will be hoping they do not lose by a big margin here as they still need percentage to survive relegation. Although we will not see Maddington next season regardless, so it’s no big deal really, Collegians to win here.
Collegians by 10 goals

North Fremantle v Kingsway @Gil Fraser Oval MOTR

1 v 2 and it is the battle for the top spot which sees this as our Match Of The Week.

North Fremantle stumbled last weekend and will be hoping to redeem themselves this weekend against a side that proved they are contenders after a good win themselves. North Fremantle’s key is stopping the ball coming out the midfield as that is Kingsway’s strength. Kingsway got a good win last weekend and should be riding high with confidence as they battle for top spot this weekend. Can they be North Fremantle away from home, it will definitely be a tough one. If you are heading along early, watch the Colts as apparently it was handbags from 20 paces last time these two sides face. North Fremantle to win all 3 grades.
North Fremantle by 4 goals

Kelmscott v Stirling @John Dunn Memorial Park

Laughable situation.
Stirling by 15 goals

Hamersley Carine v Wanneroo @Percy Doyle

Hamersley have had a very indifferent season and they would have hoped for better this season. They do have a good chance to finish the season off strongly though but they face a side this weekend who is looking for revenge after last weekend’s loss. Wanneroo will need to bounce back to the winners list with a win here as they look to either getting that slim chance of a top 3 finish or hosting a home final. I think Wanneroo will bounce back strongly.
Wanneroo by 8 goals

Good luck all, MrM is off to have a drink on this balmy Wednesday evening.

Thanks for the great write up MrM. As always, love the slight digs that put in. I certainly encourage a little pot stirring.

Swan Ath V Mt Lawley
This is huge for both teams. Mt Lawley the inform team in the comp but I think last week may have taken too much out of them. Swan Ath by 15points.
Collegians V Maddington
A case of the who cares cup. Not much to gain for either side just enjoy a good game of footy lads.
North Freo v Kingsway
Deserves the tag of MOTR. A huge game here for both sides. Kingsway coming of a great win in the Mayors cup but I would not want to face North after a loss. Cant see them losing 2 in a row and will stamp their authority on the comp by winning this one. North Freo by 4 goal.
Stirling to get their biggest win of the year.
Ham/Carine V Wanneroo
Danger game for the Roos, a loss here will be catastrophic. They will be bitterly disappointed at last weeks results. It may be a season of what ifs for the bogans form the Showgrounds, a lot of close loses now. Does this put doubt into their heads going into finals. They will be looking to bounce back strongly this week. Ham/Carine will go in with a little bit of confidence, they traditionally match up well against Wanneroo.
Roos here by 5 goals.

Exciting round this week but the sports presenter in me cant help but look ahead to round 18. What a finish to the year we have, great scheduling by the WAAFL. Especially the night game at the Showgrounds. Will top spot be locked away prior to the game for North Freo, will the game between Kingsway and Swan Ath be completed, will Wanneroo be trying to hold onto 4th spot or will there be a chance to push up to 3rd.

Here we are, week 1 of the 2 weeks of hell. With the way the ladder is, the fixtures look absolutely delicious and a loss for any of these teams could be detrimental. I am personally very excited to see that at this moment in time you could finish 5th or you could finish 1st and still be a serious chance to be playing come September 9. Anywho my predictions

Ath v Hawks. I really don't know who to tip. The ath have had some easy fixtures lately which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Mt Lawley are flying but will they be juiced? Man ohh man, ill go the Beaufort st boys by 7 points

With Mt Lawley winning collegians season is officially over but they will still win by 6 goals. Need to win and get the percentage going upwards so every goal will count for them.

Wanneroo over hamersley by 7 goals. Hamersley have been ordinary but a week off could freshen them up for possibly some giant killing. I think the roo boys will be hoping for the same team that got belted by kingsway a few weeks back and should be out for vengeance especially after last week loss to kingsway.

Kingsway to beat the maggies just to make round 18 absolutely tantalising. I really don't know who will win this, id probably say freo just cos its down at the left bank but as i said wouldnt it be great for round 18 to be anything. Kingsway by 2 goals in a rip snorter.

Good luck all teams, keen to hear bootheads predictions. My guess is Mt Lawley away probably not good enough. Am i right booty boy? I also think kelmscott told chooka24 to shut up once he gave away his identity. Would be good to know whats happening down at the dog pound in terms of what the waafl have told them etc. Good luck ladies

Wow, sounds like everyone down there at the dog kennel have thrown their toys out of the cot.

Really surprising, given the strong messaging coming out of there earlier in the year.

What a round we had and what a round we have coming up.
It is going to a huge finish to the season, with the order of the top 5 not being finalised until 7:30 Saturday night. there will no resting player for these teams, there is something to gain and to lose for each of them.

Kingsway now sits at the top of the ladder following a great win, hats off to them to travel all that way and come home with the points.
North Freo will know before the bounce on Saturday if top spot and a week off is still alive for them or if they will be fighting to hold onto 2nd. No doubt the friendly crowd at the show ground will make them feel welcome.
Wanneroo did what they had to do against Hamersley Carine and now face a North Freo side who have lost 2 in a row. Pretty simple for them win and they get a home final, lose and they are on the road.
Mt Lawley take another scalp on their march towards the finals. This opens up 4th spot and a home final for the Hawks if they do as expected and destroy Collegians.
Both teams have hit their straps at the right time of the year but the age old question remains have they played their finals already?
Swan Ath will be disappointed with the loss but a big win over the ladder leaders next week will still give them a chance to finish 2nd.

I am very much looking forward to Mr M's post and pre game write up.

Well what a weekend of results we saw.
Mt Lawley continued their good run and defeated Swan Ath
Kingsway grabbed top spot with a thumping win over North Freo
Wanneroo got back on track with a good win
Collegians beat Maddington in what was Maddington’s final ever game...(Sorry I forgot you all weren’t playing this week)
Stirling got their biggest win of the season and will need a 45 goal flogging to avoid relegation.

It sets up a tantalising last round.

Kingsway need to win, they can lose and keep top spot (just )
North Freo could forfeit their League and still finish 2nd if Kingsway win.
Swan Ath need a win for a double chance
Wanneroo need to win for a chance at a double chance, lose and they may lose their home final
Mt Lawley need to win to give themselves a chance...

MrM thinks, CHANCE will be word of the week.

As for the games Saturday, MrM got this reply from his source of the day. MrM is the blue text

“ (Name Suppressed for Legal reasons), how did we go today? Just saw some thumping wins, results went our way to!”

“Ah great man, yeah good yeah good, good games. “

“Colts had a thumper
Reserves went through the motions and got a win
League boys turned it on for a half”

Awesome mate, any injuries? Reports? Canteen? MrM needs to know.

“No injuries, reports none...Saw the worst yellow card ever though.
Canteen, no hot chips, but freshly crumbed chicken schnitzel burger, fried before your eyes 9/10”

“Sounds good to me, I will put it in the report.
So... hows your sister?

The conversation died off quickly after that, but looks like a good weekend was had, would love to hear about the other games.
