We are now two thirds of the way through the season and MrM is ready to make one of the all time great predictions in that, I cannot see the Top 5 changing. That's right folks those sides currently in the top 5 will occupy those spots after Round 18. Will the order stay the same? Well MrM isn't so sure on that, there is still plenty of football to come. As for the bottom 5, well it's hard to see any of those sides making a run.

Depth is the key with all sides in the Top 5 having Reserves and Colts also in finals contention. Although MrM may not be here for finals, we do know that it should be close.

In some more exciting news it's Ladies Day this weekend and MrM normally thrives in these circumstances. MrM has bought the finest cologne for the occasion in a bid to entice a potential Mrs Mysterious. As MrM goes on the hunt, it will be interesting to see whether or not he can maintain his current form on this special day.

While MrM sits and ponders what could be, let us have a look at this weekend’s fixtures.

Kingsway v Maddington @Kingsway Reserve

A big weekend for Kingsway here, can they continue to win as they look to solidifying there ladder position. If they keep winning it will add pressure onto North Freo to keep on winning, a loss and they open it up for the two sides below them. It is also a big weekend for Maddington with a win needed to push them out of relegation talk, if results go their way, if they can win then they won’t even be in the 8th spot by the week’s end. I think should be a good contest, but Kingsway to good here.
Kingsway by 4 goals

Swan Athletic v Collegians @Fawell Park

Swan Ath are another club needing a win this weekend, or risk falling down the ladder as they have a few sides chasing them. They cannot afford to slip up, but it won’t be easy against a Collegians side that is desperate to win if they want to play finals. Collegians have stalled in recent weeks as Injuries and depth start taking their toll. They will need to bring there A game this weekend, but Swan Ath at home could be too good.
Ps where has “Any Plum Any Pud” gone?
Swan Athletic by 4 goals

North Fremantle v Kelmscott @Gil Fraser Oval

It is not a hard scenario for North Fremantle, win and they will keep top spot on the ladder. They have played good football this season and will not want to drop a game here, one they should win. Kelmscott looked quite good this past weekend and I expect them to cause North Freo some issues. I think it will be a good game of football, but the Magpies to get a win.
North Fremantle by 5 goals

Mt Lawley v Hamersley Carine @Hamer Park 1 MOTR

Due to a lack of better options, and with this being an 8 point game, it is this weekends Match Of the Round.

Mt Lawley is flying with the “Brothers of Destruction” looking good at the moment, even if it is one lonely brother doing all the heavy lifting. They pose as a danger for sides come finals, but they need keep winning as this game is as important as any. Hamersley have been inconsistent all season and perhaps not having a home ground is hurting them and moral. If they are any hope of playing finals they will need to win this weekend, a loss and it is goodbye finals hopes.
Mt Lawley by 3 goals

Wanneroo v Stirling @Wanneroo Showgrounds

MrM has seen Wanneroo play for two weeks now and it is clear, they play better when he is around. A big game this weekend as MrM cannot remember a time when Wanneroo have lost Ladies Day (A finer selection of ladies wearing hoodies and ugg boots you’ll never see). They will need to keep on winning if they are still hoping for the double chance come finals. Stirling will be desperate for a win seeing as they are facing the prospect of relegation. It will be a hard task away from home in front of a largely parochial crowd, but they will fall short this weekend.
Wanneroo by 5 goals

That is it folks, stay tuned for MrM write up post game, as he is locked and loaded for a big one.
Also because I have not mentioned before, it is Top5 v Bottom 5 this weekend. So look for the gap to grow.

Kingsway will easily account for maddington, the roos at home by about 7 goals.

Swan Athletic will have collegians on the ropes early and will win by 6 goals in the valley.

What can you ever expect from kelmscott, more inconsistent then Mr M with the ladies but you cant go past the Maggies. North by 5 Goals

Watching stirling play last week was rather worrying they seem so far off the pace, they will struggle in c1 next year, wanneroo will run riot. Wanneroo by 10 Goals.

Mt Lawley are a real big unknown there best is outstanding but their average is very poor, Thats why i see Hamersley causing a big upset. Hamersley by 2 Goals.

Good luck to all sides this week as the contenders & pretenders are found.

Some big margins today.
Has the gap between the top and bottom gotten larger or was this just one of those rounds?
Given what we have seen today is the top 5 set or is it still too early to tell?
And if it is set are the positions correct?
I would be interested to get people's thoughts.

It goes deeper than the league too. In the reserves there was a forfeit, a team failing to score and another could only manage a single behind all game.

15 goals to 3 1st half set-up Kingsway win over Maddington - Kingsway still have 2 - 3 good ones to return and will then hopefully be at full strength for the 1st time this year.

Also a Special mention to the spectators at North Freo v Kingsway Colts game on the weekend won by Kingsway by 3 points at North Freo. To come onto the ground and abuse the Kingsway players as they left the field was a classy act especially as you expected to win the game (as you kept on telling us)

Looking forward to coming to see you again in 4 weeks time should be fun!!

I was at that game Sneaky and didn't see anything like what you're referring to. I saw the Kingsway players mouthing off towards the North Freo guys after the siren as everyone walked off the ground which was interesting as they all shook hands after the game. I also saw the Kingsway coach acting like a drop kick and physically manhandle one of the North Freo players during an altercation in the second qtr. That guy is an absolute knob. I also saw one of the umps give North Freo 50 meters for one of the Kingsway supporters abusing him....so all in all the Kingsway players and supporters were far worse than anything North Freo threw up. Numbers 1, 10 and 22 for Kingsway are grubs and will get sorted out one day...hopefully that will be in 4 weeks time as you say.

Well what a weekend of results we saw and as MrM prophesied, the gap between the Top 5 and bottom 5 grew.
North Freo demolished Kelmscott
Kingsway did the same to Maddington
Wanneroo did the same to Stirling
Swan Ath got it done over Collegians
Mt Lawley virtually ended Hamersley finals chances

MrM was looking fine and fresh for Saturday as Ladies Day had me buzzing more than Colts kids at Splendour in the Grass. MrM picked himself up a coffee, a bacon and egg roll and headed to the ground in anticipation for a good Colts contest, but more importantly MrM was ready to see which of the Ladies in attendance could be a potential MrsM.

It was at this stage MrM realised he was truly out of the loop as he strolled into the ground only to see no game on as Stirling Colts had forfeited, a unlucky result for the boys from Wanneroo as they strolled away with only a 90-1 victory, instead of a potential 190-1 victory.
As MrM sat around chewing the fat he was worried that he may miss two games of football as Stirling looked in danger of not being able field a Reserves side, but it wasn’t to worry as they soon were able to find 22 gents to pull on the jumper.

Well it may seem harsh, but perhaps they would have been better off taking the Colts route, as at least they walked away with 1 point, Stirling’s Reserves resembled a summer’s Saturday for MrM, failing to trouble the scorers for the whole afternoon. Wanneroo weren’t that convincing though, but still managed a 20 goal victory.

The Ladies were strolling in and MrM wasn’t going to accept a Stirling like performance from himself (going home without registering a score). MrM did his best, but it was to no avail and the danger signs were present early that it could be a long day for MrM. MrM did manage to strike up the interest of a few ladies when he suggested that he was both wealthy and well endowed. (A few white lies never hurt anyone though, so MrM deemed this ok). More on this later.

We were there for the League game though and it was a good contest with Stirling taking it right up to Wanneroo throughout the first half. It wasn’t till after Half time when Wanneroo kicked into gear though as they piled on 100 points after half time to run out convincing winners. A few big games for Wanneroo coming up, so it was good to see they managed to play some good football.

Back to MrM now and as the skies got darker, the women a bit more merry, it was time for MrM to do what he does best, head in for a look. MrM got chatting to a lovely lady and it wasn’t till half way through did MrM realise that perhaps this lady, was a friend of a player ( you could forgive MrM, seeing as though he has missed half the season). MrM could sense this lovely lass took a liking to the Mysterious Man, but at the risk of being labelled “Wayne Carey” MrM had to decline an offer, but if you are reading this potential MrsM...MrM is interested.

Must be hard to see behind those black and white glasses BC and i'm glad you beg to differ. the loud mouth clown than clearly moved towards the Kingsway players as they left the ground shouting all sorts of obcenities clearly agitated the scene. As for the umpire paying 50 metres, it is all i will say about the NF umpire who clearly had an agenda as well.
as for the Kingsway coach "manhandling" a NF player, that is a very serious allegation mate im sure if it was true, would have far reaching consequences for all concerned but as far as i can see, nothing was said or done so again it's best you clean those B & W Glasses.
really looking forward to the return bout , sorry game, in 4 weeks time. I know Kingwsay will be ready especially numbers 1,10 & 22

I didn't see anyone mouthing off and was right next to NF's bench but if you say so then fair enough. I'm not wedded to NF other than the fact my son plays for them. In fact, I was an A grade captain at CBC many years ago and NF were the hated enemy...so I'm just stating it as I saw it. The Kingsway coach did lay a hand on a NF player...it wasn't overly aggressive or physical but it did happen. As for the umpies...I could say the same about the chubby little Kingsway ump so reckon we call that one a nil all draw.
