Well MrM is still trying to get his head around being back in PTown so I apologise for my lack of write up thus far, but fear not, for MrM is here to recap the weekend.
MrM knew he was in for a good morning when due to being held in such high regard was offered a lift to the game. The honourable gent turned up with coffee and a bacon and egg roll, MrM could get use to this lavish lifestyle, but onwards to Swan Ath we went.
Our journey up towards wine region was somewhat pleasant, till we encountered a Police officer in the middle of the road with his weapon at the ready after a man earlier had opened fire upon unsuspecting cars. MrM felt threatened but knew he was in safe hands, as chief navigator of the trip, MrM managed to get his companions to the ground on time.
We arrived for a thrilling Colts affair. Unfortunately Wanneroo went down by a point, but it was a good game to start the day.
Unfortunately for all witnessing they had to watch the Reserves game which made the Friday Night football match between St Kilda and North Melbourne look like the 2010 WAFL Grand Final (greatest game of football MrM has ever witnessed). It was a dire, boring affair.
Swan Ath ran rampant over the Roos.
Well after two games of football you could forgive MrM for being a little peckish, so it was time to venture to one of the Top 5 canteens in the whole WAAFL.
Chips were crispy, burger was good, still love the service, so it's an 8/10 from MrM.
Talk of MrM being in attendance had the patrons at Swan Ath tingling more than a middle aged women at a Robbie Williams concert. It seemed to distract Swan Ath though as they failed to fire a shot in the first half, (literally! They didn't actually have a shot on goal did they ?)
Wanneroo were wayward, so was MrM after a few pints mind you, but at the half Wanneroo were looking like the team MrM had heard about.
Now it could have been the 6 pints MrM had consumed or actual fact, but Wanneroo apparently had too many players on the ground after the break, which led Swan Ath desperately trying to convince the umpire to call a head count before the quarter had started, however they didn't manage to and Wanneroo managed to sort out their player situation quickly. It wasn't until a little while later did Swan Ath realise they had 19 on the field but nobody from Wanneroo realised or cared (MrM is certain few can count to 19 regardless).
It wasn't till the last quarter did Swan Ath start to play some good football as Wanneroo took their foot off the pedal. Also in the last you got to witness one of the worst yellow cards decisions of all time with led to the 10th scuffle of the day. Apparently a few words were said and it got the Croats wishing that letting flares off at an Australian Rules Football match was acceptable.
As the final siren blew, interesting to note one certain Swan Ath player kept his one finger salute firmly in his pocket as Wanneroo held on to win by 14 points.
A good day for MrM and an even better evening as MrM returned triumphant in victory at the social function.
Cannot wait for this weekend, as the "lads" from the GT stroll into Gods Country. MrM will be on close lookout for the future starts of the WAAFL comp the Doyle brothers who had to beg the WAAFL to mention them in a weekly write-up only a few weeks ago.
Apparently last encounter one of them started crying on the field?
