Well we've reached the halfway mark. The top 2 teams stumbled last week and Dianella did the Steven Bradbury and slid into top spot. They are at home for the rest of the home and away season so expect them to be up near the top at the pointy end of the season. A meeting at Piara tonight has ramifications for them for next season - how will it affect them this week?

Last time they played:
Cottelsoe 11.14-80 defeated CWP 5.11-41
Belmont 6.5-41 lost to Mosman Park 16.11-107
Brentwood 12.8-80 defeated Manning 10.5-65
Piara 18.7-115 lost to Dianella 22.11-143
SNESA 9.8-62 defeated Ellenbrook 5.8-38

Looks like a fine day on the cards, 22 degress and light winds - perfect footy weater.

CWP (10th) v Cottesloe (6th)
Not much has gone right for the Falcon'sand are facing the prospect of back to back relegations if they don't improve quickly. Cottesloe started the year with a bang but are just sitting outside the 5 - a win could see them back in and that should be what they get here. Roosters to win.

Mosman Park (5th) v Belmont (8th)
Mossie had a big win against Piara to jump into the 5 and will want to consolidate themselves in there. Belmont had a big win against top side SNESA and are finding form after a slow start. They can't afford to lose here otherwise they'll be 3 games & percentage adrift of the 5 but it might be to much of a task up on the shoebox oval. Mosman Park to win.

Manning (7th) v Brentwood (9th)
Manning are in thee same boat as Belmont, they need the win to stay in touch with the 5 and out of the relegation zone. The Bulldogs took the points last time but haven't shown much bite since. Rippers to win.

Dianella (1st) v Piara (4th)
On Piara's small oval it was a high scoring shootout, it will be interesting if the open space at Dianella has the same effect. Only half a game seperates the sides, this should be a cracker. Will have to choose the Raiders at home.

Ellenbrook (3rd) v SNESA (2nd)
After last weeks disaster for the Saints, they'll be hungry for the win against long time rivals Ellenbrook. With their coach an Eels life member, I'm sure there'll be a little bit of extra spark in this one. Only 2.25 percent seperate the sides before this game, this has to be match of the round. Ellenbrook at home.

Halfway Mark and the season has been much like the AFL, just about every team can win on the day and its hard to round out the top 5 just yet besides DM being a certainty. Lets hope this good weather on Saturdays holds up in the 2nd half of the season.

CWP v Cottesloe
Cott have dropped off lately but a needed win last week against Mannign away will have them up and about. Would be sad to see CWP get relegated again but it is looking that way.
COTT BY 5 GOALS

Mosman Park v Belmont
Not sure what the change was at Belmont but they are on fire atm, taking some big scalps. I'll pick them as a roughie here.
BELMONT BY 1 GOAL

Manning v Brentwood
Manning will be desperate for a win here and keep in touch with the top 5. Brentwood have been pretty poor all year and this will be tough for them away.
MANNING BY 4GOALS

Dianella v Piara
DM BY 5 GOALS

Ellenbrook v SNESA
MOTR this week. I'm still not convinced on SNESA. Not sure they are a strong threat come finals time.
EELS BY 3 GOALS

C3 League
Dianella 17.18-120 defeated Piara 7.9-51
Mosman Park 18.10-118 defeated Belmont 11.7-73
Manning 13.10-88 defeated Brentwood 10.8-68
Coolbinia 11.9-75 defeated Cottesloe 8.2-50
Ellenbrook 22.8-140 defeated SNESA 12.4-76

C3 Reserves
Dianella 7.6-48 lost to Piara 13.10-88
Mosman Park 10.12-72 defeated Belmont 7.7-49
Manning 5.4-34 lost to Brentwood 16.12-108
Coolbinia 4.3-27 lost to Cottesloe 11.10-76
Ellenbrook 17.18-120 defeated SNESA 0.1-1

So all the home sides won in the league games with CWP jumping off the bottom to 8th and giving themselves a chance of staying in C3. Cottesloe dropped a game a half out of the 5 with Manning gaining ground only half a game behind them. Only % separates' 3rd-5th and 6 points from 1st to 5th - the run home is getting very interesting.

Looks good SS. I watched a DM side absolutely dismantle piara waters on saturday. Last 2 weeks theyve had chances to win by triple figures. Up by close to 90 against CWP and inaccuracy yesterday. The big fella is key for eels if they are to finish top 2

The big fella missed games in close losses to piara and dm. He makes the eels a minimum 6 goal a game better side.
He has 43 now from 7 games.
He will crack the 100 goal mark at the conclusion of round 18. Meaning 57 from the last 8.
Barring injury to the big man the eels are flag bound and possessed with greater depth than ever before. (4 players short of best 22 on weekend 3 being critical to he side which demolished snesa).
They will finish top as well and I hope the deciding game is against dianella as there last minute goal to win it hurt the team badly at their last outing after leading all day.
