So we are at the halfway point of the season, North Freo clearly look like the team to beat and down the bottom end Maddo and Kelmy look like C grade is beckoning unless they can get some upset results and Stirling fall off the cliff.

North Freo- 8-1-190.15%

Obviously the inclusion of Shane Woewodin and his headset have got the boys from the left bank up and running halfway thru the season. Swan ath the only team that has troubled them so unless a whole stack of injuries run through the team they look like they could be minor premiers or an easy top 2 finish.

Kingsway- 7-2-138.27%

The boys in teal have clearly recruited well as they look to push for promotion to the big time. Beaten some good teams but a pumping at home by north Freo and surprise loss to the boys from the Golden triangle may show that they aren't as good as there ladder position shows. Cant see them dropping more than 4 games in the 2nd half of the season leaving them in the top 4.

Swan Ath- 6-3-141.23%

Been hard to predict the boys from the grapes region. The positives for them is that with all there inconsistencies they have only lost 3 games and when they are on they can beat anyone as North Freo found out. With Wanneroo this week then the Maggie's, might have an idea of where they will finish in the next couple of weeks. 3rd to 5th finish.

Collegians- 5-4-121.12%

With a weakened squad from last year, it might be a surprise to see the boys from the GT in the top 5. A lot of predictors had them making the climb this year, but clearly that doesn't look likely this year. There good footy is right up there but I cant see them getting enough wins to cause enough trouble the top 4 or even 5. Id expect Wanneroo and even possibly Hamersley to jump them. 5-7th finish.

Wanneroo- 5-4-112.83%

The boys North of Ocean reef rd. have been slightly disappointing so far. North Freo put them to the sword on the weekend but up to then all there losses were by under a goal. From what I've heard they cant string 4qtrs together and have been a bit injury plagued. With a big 2 weeks against Swan and Collies coming, they need these wins to keep touch with the top 2. Im expecting a big 2nd half of the season and a top 3 finish.

Hamersley Carine- 5-4-111.60%

Not a lot was expected of the boys from the Carine. Real ordinary A grade team but have shown with results that there best football can match with the top 4. Very disappointing effort against Stirling on the weekend might show where they will finish come August. Cant see them going higher than 5th but could be 6 or 7th depending on results.

Mt Lawley- 4-5-106.25%

Other than a result in the wet against Wanneroo, the hawks haven't fired a shot this year. Looking at there scores, the games tend to be quite tight but it looks like they are really lacking 4qtrs each week. Clearly with one Mckinlay brother being a FIFO worker they just cant seem to get the choccies. I reckon they will get 4 more wins for the season and stay 7th on the ladder maybe 6th If there lucky.

Stirling- 3-6-77.05%

With an upset win against Hamersley, the saints have opened up a gap against Maddo and Kelmy. With the pathetic reserves and no existent colts, I cant see them getting too many more Wins but they might only need 2 more wins to stay up. They will need to get 2 wins against Kelmy and Maddo an that could hold them in B grade for the 2018 season. will finish 8th but 9th isn't out of reach.

Maddington- 1-8-80.49%

Been a tough introduction to B grade with some early results showing that they could possibly finish 8th although they didn't get the points. No colts and a struggling ressies isn't helping there cause and a real bad loss to Kelmscott just made things real hard for the bulls. They are going to have to beat Stirling 2nd time around, surprise a team above them and get the W against Kelmy and that could see them up to 4 wins. Will be touch and go for them but they will be 9th in my opinion.

Kelmscott- 1-8-27.52%

TBH who knows what to write about with Kelmscott. They are one forfeit away in the ressies which I think is coming and there league team got caught once again doing something wrong against Stirling. A surprise result against Maddo has given them a sniff to pull a miracle off although they need to beat not only Maddo and Stirling but a team pushing for the 5. Who knows with this mob as they could try anything the keep there B grade hopes alive. Hopefully this doesn't happen and they are in C grade before we know it. Debacle on and off field. 10th finish.

As for this round coming my predictions

Kingsway by 6 goals of Collegians
Wanneroo by 4 points against Swan Ath in MOTR
Mt Lawley by 10goals over Kelmy
North Freo by 8 goals over Hamersley
Stirling by 1 goal over Maddo which could see them done for

I told ya's last week, The blues to beat the Giants and I was right, Good luck all teams and keep the posts coming

Kelmscott will win this weekend and I predict they will finish eighth and avoid relegation.

Great write up Frank.

Good summary of the state of play to date.

North Freo clearly out in front, I would love to have seen the game between Ath and North Freo. I wonder if it was a blimp on their radar or they just match up well against them.

Halfway through the season now and the ladder has started to settle with a clear gap between those doing well and those struggling start to show quite evidently.
I think that Frank the Tank should be given the keys to the city for his wonderful write up. Well done Those avid readers of MrM’s weekly write up’s will know what MrM has been up to, but it is with a heavy heart that MrM announces some bad news.
HE’S BACK HOME! (For 4 weeks only...) I am currently in transit in the air, with my flight attendant giving me a wink and nod, MrM could be on here, I will keep you posted.
So look out a football ground near you. MrM may indeed do his weekly write up; get those canteens in order, for MrM is on the lookout for some talent.
It may start this weekend that can be sure, for few know the real MrM, beware of imposters. Although MrM is unsure what the gents in the Valley could offer this widely renowned gent, perhaps a bottle of your finest red will suffice.

Alright ladies (Ladies read this right?) and gentleman, let us have a look.

Collegians v Kingsway @Dalkeith Oval

Well this game was very close to MOTR, given Collegians caused somewhat of an upset in Round 1. The College boys will no doubt feel quietly confident of another win here at home. MrM has even found a new product for you gents to sell in your merchandise store, but that will be revealed at a later date. Kingsway have started the season off very well and should feel they are in a box seat to secure a home final in the back half of the season. This should be a very good contest and MrM would love to see the battle in the midfield of “The Bonce” v “The Chin”. Collegians to get up here.
Collegians by 2 goals

Swan Athletic v Wanneroo @Fawell Park MOTR

Well these games are usually decided by less than a goal and I expect this game to be no different which is why this is Match Of The Round.
Swan Ath were obviously disappointing last weekend, was it injury, or wedding or just players failing to turn up, you doubt that would happen two weeks in a row. On the flip side, Wanneroo looked like they couldn’t manage to string things together last weekend and will be out to improve on that given that a win is needed. It will no doubt be a good game, and let’s hope all obscene gestures by certain Swan Ath players are not displayed this weekend. A tough game, but Wanneroo to get up in a close one here, (right Boothead?).
Wanneroo by 1 goal

Kelmscott v Mt Lawley @John Dunn Memorial Park

MrM hears things about Kelmscott, less said the better. An article in The West was sent to MrM, a very interesting read indeed, added to fact they “cheated”, it’s not a good move. Mt Lawley needs a win this weekend. I think they will win, but not by how much they won in Round 1.
Mt Lawley by 6 goals

Hamersley Carine v North Fremantle @Percy Doyle

A must win game for Hamersley here after they let one slip last weekend (tipped by MrM though) it will be interesting to see how they respond this weekend against a side that is flying at the moment. North Fremantle are the clear front runners at the moment with strong depth across every grade though. Although being atop the ladder in June counts for very little though with plenty of hard work still to be done. They should manage to get a win here though.
North Fremantle by 4 goals

Stirling v Maddington @Richard Guefli Reserve

Stirling got a big win for the club last weekend which has helped them in the relegation battle. Although their Colts and Reserves aren’t much to speak of, they do put in a good effort, depth is cleary an issue moving forward and MrM stands by his statement last week. Maddington, well MrM forgets who, but someone earlier in the year said you’d be dreaming if you think Maddington will struggle this year. Well MrM is wide awake and it is no dream, they are struggling indeed. If they lose this weekend, MrM cannot see much hope for them in avoiding relegation, a win though will boost their chances, but they won’t.
Stirling by 3 goals

Good luck this weekend all. As MrM types here mid air, I still think I am a chance with this air hostess, so I can given everyone an update on this in my next write up.

Quality write-ups, my thoughts on how the ladder will look come seasons end.

Top 3 locked up by North Freo, Swan Ath, Kingsway (no particular order)

Bottom 3 locked up by Stirling, Maddo, Kelmscott, however looks like Kelmy have gone on a spending spree so they could come home strong and avoid relegation.

Mid table will be very interesting:
4. Wanneroo - once they start to put 4 qrts together they will finish the season strong
5. HC - very tight between HC and Collegians, but giving HC the edge just because they won easily earlier in the yr when they played each other. Collegians vs HC at Collegians will be a huge game that could decide 5th spot.
6. Collegians - July holidays coming at a bad time and might struggle a bit over the next month
7. Mt Lawley - a good side but not a lot of depth so think will finish 7th.

love to hear your thoughts on that MrM/ Frankie

Colonel Klink I would have to agree with you there on a lot of things. I still think wanneroo could shake up those top 3 and we will get a good indication of that come Saturday when they play Swan ath in the wine region.

As for the bottom 3, you could be right seeing the kelmscott team list from last week. They could cause a shake for all teams especially if the game is out in kelmy. Once again though we will gain a true indication this week with Mt Lawley headed out there. Think its important Stirling or maddo hang on so they can build the club. Hard to be stable when your like a yoyo each year, up and down . The likes of wanneroo and kingsway have done a good job there and as you can see are reaping the rewards of not being in the relegation battle

Other than North freo finishing top most probably, I see 2nd 3rd 4th being very tight my prediction being wanneroo in that 3rd spot with kingsway 2nd and swan ath 4th. The school holidays will really hurt collegians with hamersley in 5th and collies even probs 7th with mt Lawley jumping them. As for the bottom 3, its up to kelmscott

Not a bad thought process Colonel, with 9 weeks left of football though anything can happen.
The top 3 in the competition are definitely the pace setters with everyone else needing to lift to ensure they can match it, no surprises with the bottom 3 as no depth will leave you struggling. MrM is still unsure how clubs cannot get a Colts side...but that's for another topic.

MrM is more concerned with if he can feature on "Any Plum Any Pud" this week?
Seems like a cheap knock off of RoosTV if you ask me.
But MrM wants an appearance.

How about that for some Friday night news. Just been informed that kelmscott have done it again. There have been a lot of supporters of kelmscott defending them saying they are trying to rebuild but it just seems they keep screwing up. You know what some teams do struggle thru seasons but to be caught so many times is just ridiculous. Sometimes a rebuild is what a club needs, but kelmscott are just taking the piss by playing unregistered players. I say catchya later fellas and enjoy E1. Time to learn the real hard way instead of just through relegation

And just wait for the reply to come from those supporters. "We are hard on them, they are doing so well, people need to give them a chance, they need help and support, blah blah blah.
When are the league going to do something about this.
My guess never.

Have to feel sorry for those E1 sides in 2018 don't you, the league should just grow a set and get rid of them all together
