Round 8 this weekend ladies and gent and as you can see, it is going to be another good weekend of football. After 8 weeks of football the ladder is starting to spread with no real surprises in the ladder positions, but that doesn’t mean sides can be taken lightly with anyone capable of winning each week.
As MrM studies abroad at university he likes to play some games, so here is a little game for all readers.
What word rhyming with eight was MrM subjected to last week?

That is right for all those playing at home, Hate rhymes with eight and MrM received a lot of it this past weekend, even having my inbox flooded with such hate. Why the hate you may ask, well MrM is not so sure, but does have his suspicions; it could have something to do with a little thing that some Australian’s suffer from...Tall Poppy Syndrome. Those trying to cut MrM down will only see him come back and flourish so be on the lookout for a rejuvenated MrM. As it currently stands MrM is held up in his residence ready for some Wednesday Night beverages, so as this write up goes on, please be aware it may deteriorate into some dribble as MrM goes early.

Let us have a look at this weekend’s matches and who knows, after being subject to vitriol MrM may have to tip against the Roos this weekend.

Mt Lawley v Swan Athletic @Hamer Park1

Well it's a big week for Mt Lawley here as they can ill afford to lose and lose touch with the top 5 of the competition, a win and they can maintain touch, a loss and they slip back into the pack. They come up against a strong opposition in Swan Athletic who will be out to win to ensure they don't slip away from the top 2 either. Should be a close contest, I am thinking Swan Ath might get it done here.
Swan Athletic by 2 goals

Maddington v Collegians @Harmony Fields

A big weekend for Maddington here as they face the real prospect of relegation battle in the second half of the season. They will need to turn good efforts into good wins as they are starting to fall behind, what aides them is the fact 3 other clubs are in the same boat. Collegians, well the time is right for them to start moving now as they look to build on recent performances. They should fancy themselves here and perhaps stop seeking public acknowledgment on twitter for their goal efforts...you know who you are. They'll get the win here.
Collegians by 4 goals

Kingsway v North Fremantle @Kingsway Reserve MOTR

As both these sides do battle for the top of the ladder it's not doubt that this is this week’s Match Of The Round.
Kingsway are coming off a good win last weekend which will give them confidence (you need it to wear teal anyway so it should be sky high) but they face a real test here when they face the other in-form side of the competition in North Fremantle. North Freo is flying at the moment and with a good percentage and healthy depth have them looking in a good spot as a club. It should be a cracking game but North Freo will be too good here.
North Fremantle by 2 goals

Stirling v Kelmscott @Richard Guefli Reserve

Firstly what happened to Stirling’s score last weekend? Did they lose their score for the game? Or was it a glitch on the results page?
They should feel confident of a win this weekend though as they face the only side lower than them on the ladder. If they play 100 minutes of football then I can expect a win, if they do not, then anything can happen. Kelmscott, the things MrM hears from afar make me laugh. Good luck this weekend, you may be within a chance of winning. But MrM will go with the Saints here.
Stirling by 4 goals

Wanneroo v Hamersley Carine @Wanneroo Showgrounds

Wanneroo should be disappointed in letting another lead slip last weekend as they fell to Kingsway. This is a big game for them, as they aim to keep in touch with the top part of the ladder without letting them get to far away. They have been playing good football from all reports, but need to string it all together for 100 minutes. Hamersley Carine after a slow-ish start are now coming good and do have fond memories of playing at Wanneroo as last time they were there they did get a good win. It should be a good contest, but Wanneroo will get the win here.
Wanneroo by 3 goals

Good luck all. MrM is off to enjoy several beverages. I might even do some late night posting if I get a reply, ala Boothead last week.

Solid Mr M as always

I spoke with a couple of the Kingsway boys (or the real roos as some refer them as)and they had nothing but praise for the new Scoreboard at Wanneroo so the club should be complimented. They also said that they have an electronic scoreboard to go up as well however are still waiting for the council to install - wanneroo have friends in high places??

As for this week:

Mt lawley are always pretty tough to beat at home and Swan Ath are a bit klike Freo at the moment great 1 week then poor the next - Im tipping Mt Lawley in a close one as they need to win to stay in touch

Maddington also play well at home and only went under to North Freo 2 weeks ago by less than a goal. Collegians are starting to build although it appears that their depth is being tested as they are struggling a bit in both Colts & ressies. I'm tipping an upset with Maddington to get the job done here

After both losing a game early in the year, Both Kingsway & NF have strung together a number of wins and deservedly sit at 1 - 2 on the ladder. This promises to be a cracker with the result to go either way. I do know that Kingsway were missing 3 - 4 of the best last week due to injury/illness and as yet havent put their best side on the park this season (according to my mate at Kingsway) and rumour has it they may be adding a couple more players to bolster their already strong list. Having said that im tipping NF in a close one that could go either way

A must win for Stirling this week to keep out of the relegation zone although Kelmscott were only 3 goals down on Hammersley at 3 Qtr time last week before falling away. You would expect Stirling to get the job done at home but i reckon it may be a lot closer than predicted

A must win for Wanneroo seeing they have dropped the last 2 games. HC are chugging along nicely in the top 5 and again this is a game i can see going either way. A must for Wanneroo so they will win at home.

A crucial round of footy as some sides will be depleted next weekend when the state 23's are in QLD

Good Luck to all teams
