I hope, skfc1, you're not implying that colts sides are being forfeited because the young guys don't want to play and play in a losing side?

Perhaps there has been a run of bad injuries throughout a club and some of the young guns have been taken to fill the higher grades? hard to know what goes on behind closed doors. nonetheless i agree, its sad to see the young colts sides being forfeited, hopefully it does not develop into a trend.

Very surprised Swan Valley ever manage to field a colts team being right next door to Swan Athletic who have a B grade side and Stirling would be competing with the other northern suburbs clubs not far away from them.

Anyone know if the Swan Valley Colts forfeit was a once off or are they likely to fold? Dingo?

I see they have been struggling for numbers every week so far. It would be a shame if they folded but things can turn around pretty quickly from one year to the next, depending on numbers of juniors coming through.

Definitely doing it tough, low numbers then injuries. We're working very hard but as this thread shows, its a problem for many clubs. I noticed a post regarding the number of year 12 teams in the metro area at 20? If that's true then footy is in real trouble.

If the current trend continued, would it make sense to have the colts comp independant of the WAAFL seniors?

Same numbers between less teams would strengthen list numbers. Then WAAFL seniors clubs being given access to colts clubs in their area, with higher grade clubs being given the priority.

No, no and NO.

Those Clubs that have Colts have them because they support their Junior Clubs and look after their existing Colts.

Why should those clubs who have got off their backsides and done the right thing, lose those Colts to higher grade Clubs?

Why are people trying to keep a certain select group of Clubs in A and B grades and saying 'stuff you' to the remaining Clubs?

Why are you proposing that kids be told that if they want to continue past Juniors, they have to go to a certain Club, almost certainly north of the river?

This one pisses me off no end.

Having WAFL clubs dicate to colts (and seniors for that matter) they HAVE to play at a certain club if they expect to get a game is a battle that plenty of lower grade clubs have.
