Willetton 10.9 (69) defeated Bullcreek Leeming 6.4 (40) at Burrendah Park

The South St Derby is normally a fiery affair and this one did not disappoint. Plenty of niggle in this one as always but the Blues' class was able to shine through in the end for a 5 goal win, consolidating their spot in the top 5.


Carlisle 10.10 (70) defeated Melville 6.9 (45) at Carlisle Reserve

The Cougars were able to nab their first win of the season over a disappointing Melville outfit who are well and truly on the slide. The Rams now sit in 9th spot on the ladder at 1-4 while Carlisle were able to climb out of the cellar.


Noranda 14.6 (90) defeated Ballajura 10.7 (67) at Lightning Park

The Hawks inflicted Balla's first loss of the season, knocking them off the top of the ladder in the process. Noranda have finally seemed to hit their straps after a sluggish start.


Quinns District 19.21 (135) defeated Kenwick 9.1 (55) at Ridgewood Park

The Bulls ran riot over the Royals to the tune of 80 points, sending Kenwick crashing to the bottom of the ladder. Quinns jumped to the doorstep of the 5 with their victory ahead of a tough 3 weeks against Noranda, Thornlie and Willetton.


Thornlie 8.6 (54) lost to Kingsley 16.9 (105) at Thornlie Oval

Antoni Grover's men surged to the top of the ladder with an impressive 51 point win over the Lions on the road. Thornlie slipped to 4th on the ladder on the back of their biggest loss of the season to date.

Gotta wonder whats happening with Melville? They wouldve been very confident of pushing up to B grade again after relegation, not over yet but theyd need to work it out soon

Up at Lightning Park is was a great contest all day. Noranda played a great brand of football with a lot of aggression and attack. Ballajura were down on their normal performance but the game was won by the better team on the day.

Great hospitality shown as instead of a carton in the change rooms a beer token invited us in to watch the final 10 mins of a thrilling game in Collingwood v GWS.

Competition is looking tight so far abar a few results in what should play out as a great completion in C1 this season.

usual footy club dramas mate, but every club has them.

it was actually a much more interesting game on Saturday than the scoreboard suggests. Ridgewood seems to have a scoring end and as a club for the day we didn't score up the other end at all. in the league after the first quarter we had a 2 goal lead then Quinn's piled on 9 goals - 0 in the second, the 3rd was a tussle with us pegging back a bit with 6 goals not sure how many they kicked maybe 3 or 4 then they kicked another 5-6 in the last and repelled everything we could throw at them.

I will draw everyone's attention to last season when at the halfway point we had 1 win and where sitting dead last, then won 6 of the last 9 to get out of relegation. not saying we are going to do the same but its very early in the season and a lot can change over the space of the next 13 weeks.

Couldn't agree more Clarkson. I know your guys gave us one almighty fright at home in the second half of last season and are certainly not an outfit to be taken lightly.

I know the Blues are looking forward to playing Kenwick on your adult sized deck this year

yeah finally back full size. though as a backman I didn't mind the small oval it meant less running.
