Well we are back again for Round 2 in some WAAFL B Grade action. MrM hopes everyone enjoyed a good Easter break, the final break until seasons end. MrM spent his time in a dormitory trying to work out, how his fantasy football side could get much worse (Not being in Australia does have its detractions).
In some shocking news, word has got back to MrM about one of his favourites displaying a rude and lewd gesture to Wanneroo fans last game upon the final siren in the league game, with such actions deemed a reportable offence, we await his future trial date at Kangaroo Court.
MrM could be considered to be a George Costanza type, as things are finally looking up for MrM, only for the world to be conspiring against MrM in the one time in life MrM is looking like he is about to get ahead. The countries with leaders who have ALL TIME tremendous haircuts are busy plotting world domination in worrying signs for MrM.
Disappointing MrM will miss this weekend’s game as any chance to head to the Golden Triangle is truly a blessing. MrM will miss those days of Collegians say MrM drink for free...only to offer Melbourne Bitter as the choice of drink, an interesting choice given most in the GT love to have a shandy or 2 two...
Alright, time to take a look at this weekend’s games.
Collegians v Wanneroo @Dalkeith Oval
Collegians got their 2017 campaign off to a good start last weekend and showed they are still with a chance this season, I am not sure why people would write them off though, just remember if it wasn’t for an errant kicked by #10 on last season’s qualifying final they could have had home gorund advantage and the season may have played out very different, counts for nothing now though, but MrM remembers. The boys at Wanneroo will be out for redemption after letting the game slip last round and will be looking to open their 2017 account. Plenty talked about for Wanneroo, but will need a better showing this weekend. I am sure when MrM arises after a big Friday night out, he will see a close game, but one Wanneroo emerge victors from.
Wanneroo by 1 goal
Swan Athletic v North Fremantle @Fawell Park MOTR
These two sides are tipped for big things in 2017 according to many pundits, so what better chance to see how you stack up then against an inform rival. That is why this is Match Of The Round.
Swan Athletic had a good come from behind win against Wanneroo last round, even more impressive it was away from home. They will need to improve here though as some wayward kicking nearly kept them out of the contest. North Freo are another side who will be brimming with confidence after a good win round 1. It will be a good test here for them as they look to build on a good start. Could be a flip of the coin to see which way this games goes, but I shall go with the home side.
Swan Ath by 1 goal
Kelmscott v Kingsway @John Dunn Memorial Park
Well if the previous match was MOTR this game could very well be the opposite. Rumours are spreading quickly about Kelmscott’s demise and nobody is as sure as to what is actually happening. Although if those at KSFC are adamant they will have 3 sides to play on any given Saturday, then we have to respect their word. I do not hold much hope for them, but MrM has been sent a rumours, so will be interesting to see what happens. As for this Saturday it is just a pity they face a Kingsway side looking for revenge after last rounds failure. I think Kingsway will run riot over Kelmscott.
Kingsway by 10 goals
Hamersley Carine v Maddington @Percy Doyle Reserve
It was a disappointing return to B grade for Hamersley, who found the going a little tough against a well drilled side in North Fremantle. This game will provide a good test for them as they can see where they sit in the pecking order as Maddington may be no easy beats. It is also a good chance for Maddington to see where they sit, as not a lot was predicted for them this season, but they can prove us all wrong. I think Hamersley will get a win here. Side note...how does City of Stirling allow a club to play in a different local council, bizarre!
Hamersley Carine by 3 goals
Stirling v Mt Lawley @Richard Guelfi Reserve
Well what an interesting clash this could be. Sitrling didn’t start the season as they would have hoped, and suffered a loss to a side they may have thought they should have won. They face another tough match here with Mt Lawley coming off a dominant win. Mt Lawley got a big win in Round 1, seeing as you can only play the 22 who turn up; they did what they needed to do. I think Mt Lawley may surprise a few this season pushing further into finals. I expect them to get another sizable win here though, with the “Brothers of Destruction” to kick over 10 between them.
Mt Lawley by 8 goals
Good luck this weekend all.
