Is anyone else baffled with games fixed for 17 weeks straight after Easter? Usually the June long weekend sees a bye?? Am I wrong?

only A grade get another bye on sat 29th july so they finish a week later as per normal. going to be a long year with no break but i think its due to easter being later this year. next year easter is end of march so im sure the bye will return or at least i hope so, need my mid season weekend beeer trip away to bali.

Yep bizarre decision. The WAAFL could easily fixture a general bye on the June long weekend and just push the rest of the season back a week. A Grade GF to be played the weekend before the AFL GF

It happens every 4-5 years so it's not new happened last time Easter was mid to late April

It happens every time Easter falls during the season. The easy way to fix it is to have all grand finals (from A Grade down) played on the same weekend. This way, all clubs can have 2 general byes during the season.

This also has the added benefit of having more better quality umpires available for lower grade finals in the 1st and 3rd weeks. Having everybody start finals on the same weekend means that you only need to supply umpires to 2 A Grade venues in week 1 (instead of 5) and to 1 A Grade venue in week 3 (instead of 2).

D1 AND D1R Have a bye that weekend, the only grade to do so leaving them with a 17 game season, no idea why just them.

is D1 and D1R an 8 team comp? Pushed back for a 4 team finals series not 5 maybe.

Maybe 9 team comp so to have a general bye puts them in line with everyone else if they play everyone twice possible.

Typically D1 is aligned with A Grade so I would think everything is set out to coincide with the A Competition?
