Looks like the even up rule is going to be implemented in c4 this year. Interested to hear what people think of this idea.

The step from the e grades to c4 has been one that most clubs have struggled with. Since 2011 only 2 clubs (Nollamara and Rossmoyne) have been able to maintain a 2nd side beyond a year or 2 since making the move up. The positive will be that clubs will be encouraged to field a 2nd side, move out of e grade and stop beating up on clubs 3rd or below sides.
It should also see a higher standard of league game without guys in these clubs who struggle for numbers doubling up.

On the flipside, I can see clubs like Osborne Park, Jandakot and kwinana with good numbers or even 3rd sides being at a disadvantage. Having 66+ players to pick from and potentially having 7 have to sit on the bench in your 23-44th player bracket would no doubt be frustrating when you're lining up against 15 players.

Curious to hear people's thoughts on this.
Interesting to note that c4 will be a 12 team comp this year. Has this initiative been pushed by these clubs looking to come up?

If this is the case it is a slippery slope?

This happens in a Colts and for clubs doing this every week it won't take long for a few injuries, work commitments etc to take their toll.

Much like the Colts the teams usually end up doubling up and eventually forfeiting.

It's a hard one as it can be seen as making an exception to get a club moving up to two sides but can also be costly.

This is only my opinion from experience but open to hear the pros and cons.
Knight Footy is the winner!
