Welcome all to the 2016 WAAFL SkillHire Final's Series. (I think I got that one right, anyway, have a look at this cool graphic the WAAFL came up with.)
What an exciting finals series it is shaping to be. Thanks to Wembley and their Reserves team who took the heat off MrM's disappointing write-up last weekend and produced a stunner where they were docked 8 points for playing what seems a player under a false name. Next time, try not to do that when the player who was being replaced is a tall ginger man (from all reports) they are hard to disguise. MrM won't go as far to call them cheaters, but it's definitely not within the spirit of the game, as MrM pointed out, didn't realise people followed B Reserves football that closely to even warrant it being checked. As for the unlucky sides whom have had their ladder position changed, MrM feels for you, but what's done is done and you'll just have to move on and forward. I notice Kingsway have been quiet, because of they didn't try and do that themselves earlier on in the season, they too could be playing finals.
How good has the Olympics been thus far? MrM has enjoyed watching plenty of sport thanks to Channel7 and it can only get better can't it?
Plenty to keep you interested, but it's the failure on the big stage which irks MrM. Easy to criticise from the armchair I know, but luckily Cricket isn't in the Olympics because no doubt we'd be playing on dust bowls and Australia can't handle them apparently.
Alright, let's have a look at some finals, might even delve into some Reserves action, later on, so be on the look out.
Elimination Final.
Kingsway v Mt Lawley @Kingsway Reserve
Previous meetings this season
Kingsway 11.7 (73) defeated Mt Lawley 5.10 (40)
Mt Lawley 8.13 (61) defeated by Kingsway 13.13 (91)
Kingsway have had the wood over Mt Lawley this season and will be hoping to continue that trend on Saturday. Kingsway played consistent football most of the season and are playing finals in B Grade for the first ever time with a look to pushing on to bigger and brighter things. Mt Lawley on the other hand have recovered after a bad 2015 to play finals this season in what nobody really expected them to do. They have the two best forwards in the League and will be hoping they can get them plenty of supply on Saturday. The game will be won and lost in the midfield, something Kingsway have won most of the season, I expect them to win that battle and ultimately the game here.

Qualifying Final
Whitford v Collegians @MacDonald Reserve FOTW
Previous meetings this season
Collegians 9.9 (63) defeated Whitford 7.10 (52)
Whitford 10.5 (65) defeated by Collegians 13.6 (84)
This is looking like a great final. As Collegians have defeated Whitford in both encounters this season can Whitford stop that trend? Time will tell, that's why it's got the esteemed honour of Final Of The Week.
Whitford could have finished top of the ladder, but fell short when it counted late in the season and will need to play their best football to get a win here. They have been one of the best sides all season, but perhaps it's some injury concerns which is the reason they have faltered, but time will tell if they can make an impact here. Collegians, perhaps a tad unlikely missing out on Second spot by 1% will be out to show why they shouldn't be counted out in this finals series. They have most of their key players back now and with two wins over Whitford already this season they come in full of confidence and so they should, they could definitely best them here. Another game that will be won or lost in the midfield which will definitely be a tight one. I can see Collegians causing an upset here.
Collegians by 2 goals
Good luck in the finals all. It's going to be a little wet come Saturday, but we are conditioned to that by now. MrM may pop down to an oval to watch, then again he may not, but both clubs should have a plethora of hot chips ready just in case.
