I hope im not stealing your Thunder Mr M but with the business end fast approaching, i thought it would be good to look at the ladder and see just how much it could change:
1 Wembley 13 3 1432 1049 136.51 52
2 Whitford 11 5 1382 1092 126.56 44
3 Kingsway 11 5 1123 1007 111.52 44
4 Collegians 10 6 1141 970 117.63 40
5 Mt Lawley 9 7 1284 1190 107.90 36
6 Swan Ath 7 9 1197 1072 111.66 28
7 North Fremantle 7 9 1188 1213 97.94 28
8 Wanneroo 5 11 1178 1199 98.25 20
9 Melville 4 12 987 1650 59.82 16
10 Quinns District 3 13 1014 1484 68.33 12
Wembley (1st) to play Melville (A) & Wanneroo (H)
Will finish minor premiers and get the week off - have beaten all other sides this year and are warm favourites to make the GF and advance to A Grade although have slipped up the last couple of years when it has counted
Whitfords (2nd) to play Collegians (H) and Mt Lawley (A)
Have hit a bit of a flat patch the last couple of weeks after looking like challenging for top spot a few weeks ago. Crunch couple of games coming up as 1 or 2 losses could see them tumble to 4th and an elimination final. Will need to win both to secure a double chance and a home final
Kingsway (3rd) to play Swan Ath (A) and Quinns (H)
Consolidated 3rd spot with a win over Mt Lawley on the weekend and will be hoping to continue their good form with a tricky away game against Swan Ath (they will win the last rd) - if they win and Collegians upset Whitfords, Kingsway should finish 2nd and host the 1st final, lose (and Collegians win)they will drop to 4th. If Whitfords beat Collegians and Kingsway win, it will guarantee them a double chance so there is a hell of a lot riding on this weeks game
Collegians (4th) to play Whitfords (A) and Melville (H)
Bounced back to form last start to keep the double chance alive although they must beat Whitfords to remain in the hunt. Win this week and other results go their way, they will secure the double chance, lose and it will be an elimination final week 1 so again a lot riding on this week.
Mt Lawley (5th) to play Quinns (A) and Whitfords (H)
Have hit a rough patch losing 3 in a row after defeating the ladder leaders and whilst they should still finish 5th, a loss to both Quinns away and Whitfords at home could see them slip out of the 5 if Swan Ath win their last 2 although they should beat Quinn's and secure the top 5 - very reliant on the 2 x big fwds and need more from the rest of the team if they are to progress further
Swan Ath (6th) to Play Kingsway (H) and North Freo (A)
A loss on the weekend has pretty much ended Swan Ath's late run for the finals as they now need to win their last 2 (Both Tricky games)and rely on other results to go there way. A tough year with a lot of players heading to the bush this year but im sure they will bounce back better next year
North Freo (7th) to play Wanneroo (A) and SWan Ath (H)
Another side who can "technically" still make the finals but would need to win both there remaining 2 games by big margins and rely on other results to go there way. Injuries seemed to have hurt them this year but im sure that they will again bounce back next season and look to get back into A Grade as quick as possible
Wanneroo (8th) to play North Freo (H) and Wembley (A)
Certainly a dissapointing year for Wanneroo who would not have expected to be in a relegation fight this late in the season although with there win over Swan Ath they have confirmed they will stay in B Grade next season and with there Colts sitting atop the ladder, the next few years will hopefully see a few younger guys come through the system and see them hopefully move up the ladder. Tough couple of games to finish the year with
Melville (9th) to play Wembley (H) and Collegians (A)
Tough going in B Grade this year for the Rams with relegation all but confirmed. Will need to recruit well in the off season and add depth (their reserves have struggled all season) to bounce back in C1 - I'm sure a lot of the B Grade clubs won't miss playing at Melville next season on the Auskick oval
Quinn's (10th) to play Mt Lawley (H) and Kingsway (A)
Will be relegated back to C1 where they will probably be more than competitive as they have found the jump to B Grade too much of a mountain to climb this year although they will be better for the experience. Will continue to grow as a club due to the area and will be aiming to head back up the grades as quick as possible. Will have a cracking Mad Monday based on their usual Sat Avo home games!
So with 2 rounds to go the relegation teams are all but confirmed as is the top 5 however positions 2 - 5 are still to be finalised so plenty to play for this weekend
I look forward to Mr M's round preview later in the week
