I’ll take one more crack at getting some conversation started about this grade. It’s a very close competition with seemingly anyone able to win on the day. The most consistent teams are in the top 5 but even they have dropped ones that surprised me. I’ll do my write ups based on ladder position at the moment with any variations possible noted.

Maddington 13-2-1 – Maddington have been top or equal top of the ladder since round one. They are 2 ½ games clear so are guaranteed top spot and the first week off in finals regardless of their last two weeks. They have Bassendean away and Kenwick at home left. Both games they won the first time round. Though Bassendean are a different team at Jubilee and Kenwick have found some form. Have to be Flag favourites at this point

Kingsley 11-5 & Stirling 11-5 – I have put Stirling and Kingsley together because they have been locked in a battle for second since round 4. Neither team can take first or drop below 3rd so these two will face off in the first final with just the location to be decided. Kingsley plays Kenwick and Carlisle while Stirling plays Bullcreek and Noranda. Either team could be a factor come finals time.

Willetton 9-7 – this is where the ladder gets very interesting, Willetton can’t go any higher than fourth but can still drop out of finals if they don’t win at least one of their remaining games. They have Noranda at home and Ocean Reef at Heathridge. This weekend’s games will go a long way to deciding what happens with a win over Noranda they can confirm finals and then play to lock in a home final against Ocean reef in round 18

Carlisle 8-8 – Carlisles loss to Kenwick on Saturday keeps the final spot in the 5 open to both teams below them. They have lost 3 of their last 4 and only hold a 2 point lead over Noranda and a 1 game lead over Kenwick but do have a percentage advantage. Their final games are against Ocean ridge and Kingsley. They would be hoping that they beat Ocean Ridge and Willetton beat Noranda which would lock them in. though neither are guaranteed

Noranda 7-8-1 – the Draw with Maddington could play a major factor in Norandas run for finals, though they will have to do it tough by beating Willetton then Stirling while hoping at least Carlisle drop their games.

Kenwick 7-9 – still mathematically a chance to make finals though they have the toughest road to get there and also a single win to Carlisle effectively ends our chances due to the percentage difference, because Bassendean play Bullcreek we are out of the relegation battle and will live to play another year in C1. To make finals we will have to win our games against Kingsley and Maddington and hope that the other results go our way. After only 1 win in the first 9 games our second half of the season has been much better winning 6 of 7 only dropping a tight one to Willetton. If the games both go against us we can finish as low as 8th

Bassendean 5-11 – have been a solid team at home and while finals are out of the question they are still not out of the relegation battle so the remaining games are important they first play Maddington and then Bullcreek which if this weekend’s games go as expected will determine who stays in C1 and who goes back to C2 to regroup.

Bullcreek 5-11 – like Kenwick Bullcreeks second half has been much improved with 3 of their wins coming in the last 4 weeks. They will be hoping to continue that form to drag themselves from the relegation battle. They play Stirling and then Bassendean; even if they manage to knock off Stirling they will still need to beat Bassendean as the percentage difference would be hard to make up at this time of year.

Ocean Ridge 3-13
– unfortunately for Ocean Ridge due to the two teams above them playing against each other in round 18 they can’t avoid relegation even with two wins their percentage gap means that unless they win both of their games against Willetton and Carlisle by hefty margins they probably won’t be able to finish any higher than last place.

the reserves top five is set with only the positions able to change. Kingsley & ocean ridge are guaranteed a double chance and either could still get the week off. Willetton are a game and nearly 100% clear of 4th but two losses could see Bullcreek overtake them if they win both. Noranda can still get a home elimination final they just need to make up the game difference as their percentage is better.

the colts are a little more defined. Noranda, Willetton and Kingsley are your top 3. any of the 3 could take top spot. Bullcreek is 4th and has a home elimination final. Carlisle are a game clear in 5th with Bassendean breathing down their necks and Maddington are 2 games out, this weekend could end the challenge as Carlisle play second bottom ocean ridge while Bassendean play Maddington a win would knock Maddington out either way, a Bassendean win would see them able to catch up in the final round but the percentage gap would make it hard.

Top stuff Clarkson! Great write up!

The last 2 week should be interesting, with spots 2 through 7 all up for grabs, with the round 18 match between Bullcreek and Bassendean being a relegation match... Plenty to play for still!

Well there it is... The top 5 is set in all 3 grades after round 17's matches.

The first week of finals match ups in league have also been set, however the venues are still up in the air with Stirling to play Kingsley and Willetton to do battle with Carlisle. 3 of this weekend's matches will affect final ladder positions for this year's finalists, with Kingsley needing to best Stirling's winning margin by 107 points to make up the percentage gap to host the qualifying finals. A win to the Blues against Ocean Ridge will see the elimination finals hosted at Burrendah.

At the other end of the ladder, the match between Bullcreek Leeming and Bassendeanat at Beasley is a straight relegation game, with the loser heading down to C2's in 2017.

The reserves final five has been set for a number of weeks, however there is still plenty to play for in the season's final week. Ocean Ridge can take top spot and a week off with a win against Willetton and a Kingsley loss to Carlisle, with the Blues locked in to 3rd spot. It appears that last years grand finalists may meet in back to back weeks with Kingsley to start favourites against Carlisle, with Bullcreek Leeming and Noranda to meet in the other final.

Noranda have all but sewn up top spot in the colts with their 6-point win over Willetton, with Kingsley needing to beat Carlisle by about 33 goals to make up the percentage gap to claim top spot. The Blues would need Carlisle to upset Kingsley to finish in 2nd spot, with the Blues and Cats likely to face off in week 1. Bullcreek Leeming will face Carlisle in the elimination final.

Bullcreek Leeming got the win over Bassendean today to ensure they remained in C1 for 2017. Tough year for the Leauge side but pulled things together in the last 6 rounds to avoid relegation. Both Bullcreek and BKenwick avoided relegation after being 9th/10th after the first round of matches.

Hopefully the Bullcreek bombers ressies, colts and thirds get wins in their finals this weekend
