WAAFL have advised that Coolbinia West Perth wont have a colts team for the rest of the season, so now its a 6 team comp with a final 4. Where have all the Colts players gone from the C2 competition ??

It is to my understanding the age was lifted to promote numbers in colts' sides- which appears to have had adverse effects whether related or not.

Colts should be the same as the WAFL under 19's.
The whole system is a joke.

Grown men at 20 years of age should not be playing colts footy.
They can't get 17-18 year olds playing and they think they can entice them back at 19-20.
Your colts days should be over at 18 years of age.

Spot on people. Having coached juniors for years and now Colts for the past 3 years its an absolute joke having the age limit lifted as they did. By increasing the numbers as it has at my club you're left with the Colts not being selected having to play at senior level albeit a lower grade by against grown men nonetheless.
Retaining young guys players at junior level is an issue in itself. Making 17 yr olds play against 20 yr olds was never going to work and unless its rectified soon its going to become an even bigger issue in years to come. It should be under 19s.

Totally agree, it has been a long term issue retaining players after they finish juniors and this system doesn't help. There seems to be a drop off in the number of under 17 sides too, I don't think the new year system has helped with the junior structure either. Perhaps juniors should only go to year 11 (16's) with all colts 17-19 year of age.
