Well by MrM's calculations (and by any normal persons as well) we just about at the half way point of the season and the ladder is starting to take a little shape, albeit only 1 game separates First and Sixth on the ladder. So we are no closer to finding out which sides have what it takes to win the flag and at this stage, the relegation battle is very much open as well.
It's definitely going to be an exciting next 11 weeks as we wait and see what is actually going to happen in WAAFL B Grade Football.
MrM will be using this weekend to refresh and replenish his stock as the second half to this season is sure to be a doozy indeed.
Wembley, Whitford and North Fremantle all looked like the teams to beat, however each side has slipped up and have all lost games to a side currently outside the top 5. Plenty of teams are ready to pounce if any of these three sides slip up especially as North Freo have slid down in the last two weeks.
Kingsway and Mt Lawley and their supporters plenty to be happy about as they now are looking towards hopefully playing finals and once finals are here anything can happen. MrM's favourite College gents are going well, and will be looking to play finals for the first time in a few seasons.
Wanneroo gave themselves breathing room from the bottom of the ladder last weekend and in turn put pressure on all further up the ladder as they sit one game behind second. Quinns & Melville have found the going tough coming from C Grade but they will be out to ensure they won't be falling back into that Grade next season. Swan Ath have been the surprise packets for all the wrong reasons, they currently sit last on 1 win and will have their work cut out for them if they are too avoid relegation.
As for the Canteen side of things, it started with Collegians new clubrooms right in GT Heartland and MrM was pleased. After moving to Kingsway for the next away game MrM got his juices flowing as the hot chips were something to behold. Whitford had the reasonable canteen, but it will take plenty to top Swan Ath and North Freo. Other clubs you've been put on notice, MrM is coming and will be looking to be duly satisfied, if not you can expect to hear the full wrath of this great man.
Mid season report card is as follows
Wembley A
Relatively good start from the wombles of Wembley only issue was dropping winnable games, however I expect them to improve on that. The depth at the club is great too with all sides finals bound.
Whitford B+
Should be happy with the start, however have too dropped a few games. I expect them to feature heavily at season's end.
Mt Lawley B
After what they dished up last season in A Grade they should be quite content with how they are currently sitting. Depth may be tested, but League side is going along nicely.
Kingsway B
They were the early season pace setters but dropped off slightly, only to regain some form over the past two weeks. They will be looking forward to playing finals for the first time ever in B Grade if they can keep it up.
North Fremantle B-
Started off the season strongly but have lost the past two games. They can definitely make a push for finals and the top 3 though.
Collegians B-
The College boys are playing well and would definitely be enjoying there new facilities at "The Shank". If they can maintain this current form and play consistent football right the way through I can definitely see them inside the 5 come season's end.
Wanneroo C+
Started the season 0-3 but have started to play some better football now. Need to close the gab between best and worst.
Quinns District C-
Started off well, but have since found the going tough. Hopefully for them they can stay out of relegation, but should be a tight battle.
Melville C-
Have copped some hidings, yet have bobbed up with a surprise win last week. More consistency is needed as they face an important next ten weeks.
Swan Athletic D
Overall not what I or anybody was expecting from the boys from the Ath. They have lost a few players though, but still need a better showing in the next ten weeks and MrM thinks they are capable.
MrM personal report card
Write Ups A-
Some indifferent, however mostly well received. Definitely have the pundits talking around water coolers in the offices along the Terrace.
Off Field B
Again, some indifferent performances have some questioning whether MrM is the right man to lead Saturday night adventures. One week MrM is looking like Steph Curry draining buckets from anywhere. The next he's Matthew Pavlich, past his prime and moving slowly.
Dating Lifestyle F
MrM's search for a MrsM is once again stalling as I feel like the Gods are Red Bull Racing team and MrM is Dan Riccardo. They are against me. Sort it out please.
Good luck all. Enjoy your weekend off this weekend and stay safe over the long weekend.
For all the interested pundits out there, MrM increased his lead in WAAFL A Grade tipping, but will need to work hard to get back to B Grade Champion.
I'm still also leaning towards a North Fremantle v Wembley Grand Final, but Whitford are trying to ruin my plan.
Disagree with MrM thoughts? Well I'm always up for a robust argument so feel free to join in.
