Another good round of football saw some interesting results, Mt Lawley did the job over Quinns, Kingsway did as they needed over Swan Ath, Collegians got past Whitfords, Wembley took care of Melville and most would concede Wanneroo had the upset over North Freo. (MrM tipped it though.)
Mr enjoyed the lovely early morning trip down towards North Fremantle on Saturday. The coastal drive throughout the heartland of the Golden Triangle made MrM quite envious as it should for all those not in the GT precinct. After a nice little outing the night before MrM had overslept his alarm so missed a chance to collect breakfast on his way to Gil Fraser. North Freo managed to produce the goods though, as his ham cheese and tomato toastie really hit the spot. It was definitely a precursor for things to come.
The Wanneroo Colts, well they must have slept through their alarms as well as in the first half of the game they looked asleep and definitely not switched on. However in the second half, they defrosted and awoke as they pegged back a 3 goal deficit at the half and turned it around to a 6 point victory. Pleasing to see from the young Roos.
The Reserves wasn't too bad a game with Wanneroo definitely playing some good football for the most part of the game. If they can string together 80 minutes of consistent football then they are definitely a chance to string together a few more wins.
MrM had already experienced good things by the time he strolled around to the canteen for the second time around so I was expecting plenty as you can expect.
MrM ordered hot chips, chicken schnitzel roll and a coke all for $10. It was great value and great service and it tasted delicious. After declaring Swan Ath the best canteen last weekend I'm afraid they're reign was short lived, as MrM went back for more later on and ordered a hamburger later in the day. I'm willing to say that the burger was even better than the Manning Rippers burger I had back in the day. 10/10 North Freo canteen. Love your work and service and value.
MrM was looking forward to the league game as it was definitely going to be a test seeing as North Freo slipped up the previous week against Melville. Wanneroo got off to a good start as the Wanneroo crowd dubbed the 23rd Man managed to get involved in the game early and clearly upset a few of the North Freo locals. After a good first quarter Wanneroo managed to steady and by half time they were looking the like had the previous two weeks, full of confidence and ready to take the game on. Some line braking running from Wanneroo had them moving forward well. Wanneroo headed into half time with a lead as Wanneroo's crowd let a player know what the score was, he proceeded to spit in the general direction of the crowd, when mentioned he still couldn't hit a target, he spat again. A
truly disgusting act from him, and MrM collected his DNA and will report to the authorities to make sure he is prosecuted for impersonating, that is impersonating a footballer.
Wanneroo looked the good in the second half only a minor fracas threatened to derail Wanneroo's hard work as the Wanneroo crowd favourite from North Freo got s yellow card and a nice reception to go along with it. A Wanneroo player also got a yellow, but didn't carry on nearly as much as the North Freo player. As 3 quarter time strolled around North Freo were still a chance and threatened to fight back into the game all day. However Wanneroo proved too strong and ran out by 5 goals in the end. If North Freo managed to kick straight they many have been more of a chance, but Wanneroo proved too strong.
Only for North Freo to declare, "we were missing a few though", seems as though they couldn't believe they'd lost two on the trot especially to the lowly Wanneroo
A good chance for a few to reset and rest over this bye weekend, but MrM may do a midseason review.
(Also MrM memory fades him, couldn't remember when the mini fracas took place, apologies all.)
