Now with round 7 as done and dusted as the Docker's hopes for finals this season; we have a look at the results for this round to try just take a moment and work out how the 2nd sided team after 6 rounds remained goal-less. Also congratulation to the CWP boys on their first victory for the season and a thumping win by that.

Coolbinia Reserve
Coolbinia West Perth 17. 18 - 120
def.
Swan View 0. 4 - 4

Smashing win by the CWP side. I know it's not ideal when two less than competitive sides gruel it out in some of the worst conditions we'll probably see for the year but the entire Coolbinia team came to play and scored quite heavily given the poor playing conditions and did well not to concede a goal to Swan View. Any news on Swan View now? Have they lost more players still? With their reserves side forfeiting for the 4th round in a row I can only imagine their league side has ex-ressies players having a run with them. They started off the year, not as a great side, but definitely a better scoring side than what they are now posting around 50 points per game for the first 4 rounds and the last 3 games averaging less than 10 points.

Kingfisher Oval
Ballajura 0. 7 - 7
def. by
Thornlie 8. 16 - 64

This I was expecting to be match of the round with a top of the table clash but ended up in a slightly embarrassing result for the 2nd placed Ballajura.
First quarter the Ballajura boys held the ball in their half with a heavy cross-wind slightly to their advantage but were unable to capitalise on any of their opportunities. Thornlie scored the first goal in the opening moments of the quarter and another goal from quick transition utilising the fat side of the ground. Quarter time saw Thornlie in the lead with a 2 goal break.
Second quarter was a much the same only this time the ball dominated mostly in Thornlie's half. Thornlie would go on to kick another 4 goals with Ballajura unable to really successfully get the ball out of the back half.
After the big break third quarter commenced and we saw the first of the rain which had fortunately until this point held out. It made the ball that bit more slippery and skills began to get a bit more sloppy. The wind had changed slightly and not favouring to the right of the club rooms as much as it did in the first half. Thornlie piled on behinds this quarter and had it locked down in their half. Ballajura unable to get any supply to their forward line began to kick along the opposite of the ground into the breeze which really made matters worse for them because the ball was now being turned over more than ever. Ballajura had a few opportunities to score back the back-line was being covered quickly by the defence of Thornlie who would get numbers back quickly and switch it out.
The scoreline really didn't paint a picture to the game. It was a competitive battle just the Ballajura side couldn't get a score on the board. I'm sure in drier, less cyclonic wind style games it would have been a much different game, but hey, that's football.

Ferndale Park
Lynwood Ferndale 6. 10 - 46
def. by
Gosnells 8. 9 - 57

Gossie boys getting it done over Lynwood at their park. Not pretty but they got it done.

Wyong Reserve
Canning South Perth 9. 7 - 61
def.
Warnbro Swans 8. 7 - 55

So second hand reports from a fellow member suggest the Tigers kicked 3 quick goals to run this one out by a kick. Great result for the Canning South Perth boys because they did have a rocky start to the season but they are starting to get results.

Clifton Park
Canning Vale 11. 15 - 81
def. by
High Wycombe 13. 14 - 92

Canning Vale coming off an almost 100point defeat last week were keen to make amends at their tough mudder obstacle course. Probably the 2nd worst ground I've ever seen in terms of grass to mud ratio. Canning Vale though not to be, falling short of the doggies also coming off a loss from the previous round.

As predicted there was some interesting games with the terrible weather. Well done to Thornlie for showing that they are the number 1 team.

Does anyone have any news out of swan view ? What are the chances of them lasting the season??
Well done to coolbinia on their first win. 6 losses in a row isn't fun for anyone.

Sounds like a cracker at CV and congrats to the doggies on a huge fight back in the mud.

Lynwood continue to put up a fight but I don't think they are finals material. Gosnells get the job done again. Interesting they lost to Warnbro earlier in the season by 50 plus but now sit above them. With the exception of swan view and coolbinia all games seem to be best on the day. With Thornlie hardest to beat obviously.

Hope the Canning South Perth boys are up and about for the old Sunday league clash at Gossies this week. Used to love watching games down there. Good place for footy. If the Tiges get up they will surely put in a good footing to play finals. Might try and get there this week and give a first hand account.
