Round 7 is here and once again it has been busy week in football with plenty of discussion around B Grade football which is good to see and hear. We enter a pivotal round of football for every side, so MrM cannot wait to see the results come Saturday 5.40pm (usually when MrM check the results after a few post game beverages).
In case you have been living under a rock or perhaps you choose not to listen or view current affairs the world's biggest plane visited Perth and wasn't it spectacular, rumours were abound that Swan Athletic ordered the plane in with its cargo of a new deep fryer so MrM and his compatriots could enjoy a glutton of hot chips Saturday, I know T.Galati would be happy if you did just that. MrM was truly in awe of how something so big and majestic could get off the ground, there is hope for some people after all.
We are still on election watch and you'll be happy to know its 44 days till the big day as things get slightly more exciting, but a relatively slowish week. Malcolm Turnbull made a visit to Perth (on a slightly smaller plane than the one mentioned before) but no sight of Bill Shorten, I'll keep you all updated.
Let's get into football, as it's what we know and love.
Swan Athletic v Wanneroo @Fawell Park
In a game that was close to being Match of the Round, it could very much be now or never for the boys from the Ath. They cannot afford to lose here as it will mean playing catch up football and we all know that can be a dangerous task. Wanneroo, fresh off a good win can't expect this game to be easy though. If they play as they did last week they will come close to winning but can't expect it will happen. Rumours are abound MrM's favourite player might be a chance after all, we wait and see. Given it's Ladies Day I'm sure a bumper crowd will be on hand to witness this game, but ultimately it will be Wanneroo who will emerge as the victors.
Wanneroo by 2 goals
Kingsway v Mt Lawley @Kingsway Reserve
Kingsway have plenty to prove here, are they considered a serious chance of playing finals football, or was the early season form aberration. This game will go a little Ng way to determining the answer to that question. They face a Mt Lawley side who is pondering the same thing, can we be considered a real contender. If they are, they will need to win these games they are expected to. I'm sure the weather will play a part in this game, Mt Lawley do have a few bigger bodies and have shown to play some good football, so that's why they will win here.
Mt Lawley by 3 goals
Whitford v Wembley @Macdonald Reserve MOTR
It's a big early test for these two clubs here. Can Wembley continue to produce the form that has them sitting top of the ladder and can Whitford bounce back from last weekends disappointing defeat, that's why this is Match Of The Round.
Whitford should feel slightly disheartened after last weekends results, they gave up a lead heading into the last quarter as a very good North Fremantle side ran over the top of them. Whitford can play some good football, MrM witnessed it firsthand so Wembley will be on the look out. Wembley themselves though are more than capable of playing good football. They sit atop the ladder and are showing why they should be feared. It might come down to how Wembley's young backline can stand up to Whitford experienced forward line. Wembley will win here in a close match.
Wembley by 1 goal
Melville v North Fremantle @Melville Reserve
A little bit of a southern corridor derby here. Melville were well beaten last weekend and no doubt will have talked about how they are going to play better this weekend. They face a side that's flying at the moment and it could be an interesting game indeed. North Freo on paper should run all over Melville and it shouldn't even be a contest, they are playing good football and will no doubt be out to prove why they too can be considered a threat this season. However football can be a funny game sometimes and I do expect Melville to bounce back, but they won't bounce back enough to defeat North Freo here.
North Fremantle by 6 goals
Quinns District v Collegians @Ridgewood Park
Quinns got there season off to a good start but have found the going tough in recent weeks as they find there feet in B Grade. They have a few good players, but there depth may be tested as the season goes on. This game is an important one as if results go against them, they will be in the bottom 2 come Saturday evening. Collegians would have gained plenty of confidence out of last weekends game where they defeated Kingsway in a close game. If they can maintain some form before the Uni break (MrM speculates they may lose a few for a few weeks) then finals are a definite possibility. Collegians will win here, even at Quinns home ground.
Collegians by 3 goals
Good luck to all this weekend, the weather is sure to play a massive part, so if you're like MrM just stay in bed and pray it dries out before your game. If all else fails why not fake a hamstring injury tonight at training to put the possibility out there you might not be 100% for Saturday, thus making your withdrawal for Saturday less suspicious.
