Almost a third of a way through the season and things have picked up dramatically. MrM thinks the WAAFL has received more publicity this season than any season in the past 5 years combined. Whether that be good publicity or bad, people are talking about the WAAFL and that was the new WAAFL Presidents goal, more exposure for the WAAFL and MrM likes to think he's played a part in that, so you're welcome all.
As for on field incidents, let's keep those to a minimum and talk about off field battles, battle of the Northern Corridor NightSpot Dance Floor. The battle heated up last weekend as all were strutting their stuff, MrM is hesitant to declare a clear winner, but it's a close race for all who witnessed.
What's really heating up is the election battle, Team Malcolm v Team Bill, it's looking like a close battle indeed. 51 days till we go to the Polls and I'm sure you're all riveted, I bet you're all thinking one thing and I'll happily answer it Yes. MrM will keep you up to date with a countdown just in case you're not following it yourself. Much like I'll keep you up to date with our man Tony Galati's fight for justice, for which he is winning..take that outdated Potato Board.
Another interesting fact is that after 5 Rounds the B Grade WAAFL ladder has mirrored itself. Three clubs sitting 4-1, Two clubs 3-2, Two clubs 2-3 and Three clubs 1-4. I think this amazing, so I apologise if you don't find this the least bit fascinating. Without further ado lets get into Round 6 action, it's sure to be a doozy.
North Fremantle v Whitford @Gil Fraser Oval MOTR
We kick Round 6 off starting with an absolute beauty. These two former A Grade Heavyweights go toe to toe in a battle for supremacy here. 2nd v 1st on ladder and it's easy to see the reason why this is Match Of The Round.
North Fremantle have scraped home a few close wins in the past two weeks and will be looking to assert themselves on the competition as they face a high quality opposition here. North Freo have only lost one game and that was to fellow contender Wembley, so this is another test for them and a big one at that. Whitford has given the faithful plenty to be happy about as they are plenty some very good football. They dismantled Wanneroo last weekend like they have done to opposition before and will enter this take full of confidence. Both these sides are on a 4 game winning streak, but MrM thinks it will be North Fremantle's who ends Whitford run here. Based on the fact it's a home game and nothing else.

Mt Lawley v Swan Athletic @Hamer Park 1
Mt Lawley are impressing so far this and MrM can see no reason why they can't be considered real contenders. The one problem is that Mt Lawley's wins have only come against teams in the bottom half, but have shown they can play some good football and will be out to keep that up this weekend. Swan Ath, they have fallen this season and will be left scratching their heads to work out where it's all going wrong. It doesn't help many senior players have left, and the young promising players are getting their chance at some WAFL football, but they would still hope to be in a better position. They won't want to be falling to 1-5, so I expected a spirited performance this weekend, but Mt Lawley will still prove to good.

Wembley v Quinns District @Pat Goodridge Reserve
"Look out all, Wembley are coming and they will take all before them". These are words MrM has uttered for the past 2 seasons, as every year they look the goods. This year it could all come to fruition if they play as they have been for the past 5 weeks. If there forwards fire then no reason they can't finish in the Top 3 again and earn another home final on route to a potential Grand Final berth. Quinns, started the season well, but back to back losses now sees them drifting off the pack slightly. They won't want to lose too many more games, but should be happy with how they have performed as they haven't been disgraced by any means. Wembley should win here and there'll be no commotion as there song suggests.

Collegians v Kingsway @Dalkeith Oval
This is an important clash for the boys in blue. A win and they put themselves right up there for a potential finals spot, a loss and they could slip 2 games behind those contenders for spots 4 & 5 on the ladder. MrM would hope they lift, especially at home this weekend. Kingsway, another who started the season so convincingly but back to back losses have seen them slip and there percentage fall below 100. They couldn't afford to lose 3 on the trot, as it would definitely undo the early season work. I think the boys from "The Shank" will get the victory here.

Wanneroo v Melville @Wanneroo Showgrounds
MrM has dusted off his finest cologne and managed to polish some shoes, as its Wanneroo Amateur Football Club Ladies Day, here hoping MrM's search for a future MrsM ends Saturday sometime after 8pm..
As for the football, Wanneroo were well off the boil last weekend and failed to fire in a game that meant a lot. They usually lift a gear or two at home, so I expect them to come out firing this weekend as they are desperate for a win. Melville, got on the winners list last weekend and should feel confident they could do it again especially as last weekends win was on the road too. MrM once enjoyed the banter between himself and Melville, so I expect that to continue Saturday. Wanneroo will bound on to a win here.

As MrM mentioned, Ladies day at Wanneroo this weekend, which usually brings out the best in MrM, on and off the field. So look out ladies as this Saturday evening MrM could be attending a dance floor near you...you just never know your luck!
Good luck to all this weekend, place the game in the right spirit and no doubt you'll be rewarded.
