AS for MrM, sorry for the delay I was paying respects to the men and women who died in battle for our country.
The Colts game Saturday was a good affair. Except for the fact Wanneroo Colts seemed to have lost their kicking boots, perhaps it was a club trend because nobody from Wanneroo seemed to be able to find the big sticks all day, with some wayward kicking definitely costing all 3 sides.
The colts lost by just over a goal in an otherwise good display from them.
The Reserves was a nice fiery encounter with a big scuffle breaking out midway through the match. In a strange set of circumstances nobody was sent off though, mainly due to the fact nearly all 36 players on the ground were involved in said scuffle. It certainly didn't help Wanneroo's kicking though as a slow start tot eh game meant they were chasing all day and fell short. Definitely a lot of improvement needed next week. Kingsway won by 4 goals the margin it was at quarter time basically.
After two interesting encounters it was time for MrM to venture to the canteen. As usual at KIngsway the Chips were fine, The burgers were good and the price didn't set MrM back too much at all. Thanks Ladies at the Kingsway canteen.
The League was about to start and we were due for a good game of football. Wanneroo got off to a good start and kicked a few early goals before the game settled and were ahead by a goal at quarter time. It was very warm out there for the players as a few tired gents ran to the boundary during the second quarter but Kingsway were able to capitalise on some good football as they hit the front before half time, they could have pushed the margin out a bit further if it wasn't for some bad accuracy in front of goals.
After half time Wanneroo came out full of intent but weren't able to convert that into scoreboard pressure. and at three quarter time they trailed still by a few goals.
MrM was buoyant at Three quarter time as he could sense the players desperately wanted to win, this pleased MrM as Wanneroo got off to a good start in the fourth quarter. In a game that managed to ebb and flow Wanneroo hit the front late with about 1 minute left only for JDB in what was his 5th touch for the game to bob up and kick a goal with only seconds remaining on the clock as the ball didn't get back to the middle of the ground before the siren went.
Well played to Kingsway as Wanneroo has plenty of work to do to play finals in 2016.
