Roleystone vs. East Fremantle
A great win for the Freo boys over Yanchep who must be disappointed going out in straight sets. Although somewhat of a surprise, but not entirely unexpected, the convincing win reinforced Freo’s recent excellent form and puts them in good shape to take on Roleystone in Saturdays grand final.
Freo’s strength is their physical presence and hard running on ballers and midfielders. It will be critical that they get plenty of the football and starve the Roleystone forwards of opportunities, in particular their two big forwards. With enough of the football in their forward line, Roleystone have the fire power to kick a winning score.
The forecast for wet weather may also play its part, forcing the forwards from both sides to work harder for opportunities in front of goal.
Roleystone’s defense will welcome back from injury arguably its best defender, which will allow its mobile defenders to run off and create opportunities up the ground.
The Roleystone on-ballers and midfielders have also been impressive with fairest and best winner Gavin Olsen a standout player. They will need to be at their best as Freo’s has plenty of talent of its own in this area.
After last year’s narrow loss in controversial circumstances, Roleystone will be desperate for victory. Their overall strength, spread of talent around the ground and goal kicking ability should give them the winning edge in what should be a fantastic contest.
