The C1 League Prelim Final was a real fizzer with the Rams flexing some serious muscle and winning easy. The reserves game was a better contest and Ocean Ridge got the chocolates in a 1st v 5th match up while Quinns easily accounted for Kingsley in the Colts to set up a 2nd Semi re-match.

Weather conditions should be good by the time Saturday rolls around but the current forecast is for a 30% chance of light showers. Either way, I don’t see the weather being a factor.

East Fremantle is a big ground (don’t have any facts to back that up, just a gut feel from watching years of WAFL games at various venues) which instinct would tell you may disadvantage Melville who play on a postage stamp at Rams Stadium. Having said that, Melville and Willetton (Reserves and Colts) have the closest thing to a Home ground advantage at this neutral venue given proximity and also the fact that both clubs are East Fremantle District junior clubs so you would expect at least a handful of players from those teams would have lined up on Shark Park before.

Good luck to everyone playing, it is what you play footy for!

Grand Finals @ East Fremantle Oval

League – Quinns (1st) v Melville (2nd)
Previous Encounters:
Rd 6 – QD 13.9 (87) def Mel 9.5 (59) @ Melville Reserve
Rd 15 – Mel 12.11 (83) def QD 12.7 (79) @ Ridgewood Park
Semi – QD 10.11 (71) def Mel 8.16 (64) @ Ridgewood Park

The two best teams all year have made it and it should be another cracker of a game. The last two games between these two combatants have seen the teams separated by a total of 11 points.

Ask the Rams and they will tell you they were very wasteful in their Semi Final match up kicking 8.16 (24 scoring shots to 21). DB thinks that bad kicking is bad football and without having been at that game, it is hard for me to say that the Rams “Could have” or even “should have” won that game, you don’t kick the goals, you miss your chances – bad luck.

The week off is always an interesting one and with Quinns only playing 1 game in the last 3 weeks, there would have to be some question marks over their match fitness. The Rams may as well not have played last week in a virtual training run during their 95 point demolition of Kingsley but the Rams boys will be full of confidence after steering 21 goals through the big sticks.

Down to my tip. I would expect that a score of 10 goals or less could win this encounter with the pressure likely to be at boiling point on the bigger confines of Shark Park. Based on their 2-1 record against the Rams this season and being the minor premiers, I am going to give the Bulls the edge just.

Quinns by 10 points

Reserves – Willetton (2nd) v Ocean Ridge (5th)
Previous Encounters:
Rd 8 – Wil 9.7(61) def OCR 6.6 (42) @ Heathridge Park
Rd 17 – Wil 9.9 (63) def OCR 9.6 (60) @ Burrendah Reserve

The Blues caught Quinns off guard in the 2nd Semi Final which gave them the chance to advance straight through to the big one. The Eagles have been the dominant team of the C1 Reserves finals series and sent Quinns packing in straight sets with their 3rd consecutive strong win last week.

Belief and confidence is a huge factor here and the Ridge boys are well and truly up and about. It should be a very hard contested contest as both of these teams have some more senior stronger bodies coupled with some youthful speed and flamboyance.

I can’t go past Ridge’s dream run to get here and I think they will edge the Blues narrowly.

Ridge by 12 points

Colts – Willetton (3rd) v Quinns District (1st)
Previous Encounters:
Rd 9 - Wil 16.7 (103) def QD 6.5 (41) @ Burrendah Reserve
Rd 18 – QD 12.9 (81) def Wil 5.8 (38) @ Ridgewood Park
Semi – Wil 10.11 (71) def QD 3.7 (25) @ Ridgewood Park

As with the League game, this is another re-match of the 2nd Semi Final. In that match up, the young Willetton boys smashed the Bulls off the park. Willetton have been in great form through the finals campaign and both teams have only played twice in the last 3 weeks so it really shouldn’t be a factor in this game.

Should be a highly skilled fast paced game of footy and based on the win in the Semi, I am backing the Blues to get the day off to a good start for their club.

Willetton by 20 points

Kudos to Danny Boy for getting the ball rolling.
Firstly, congrats to Quinns and Melville on earning promotion to B grade, one step closer to the big time. Secondly, Welcome to Kenwick and Noranda for next year. Can't wait to see you guys flounder and thanks for the easy 16 points in advance for next year. It's a big jump from C2 fellas.
Should be an absolute ball tearer down at shark park on Saturday. Some mouth watering encounters for us to enjoy.
League- Saw Melville play on the weekend. They will be too strong for the Bulls I think. Forward line is packed with goal kickers and their Mids are dominant. Quinns were lucky to survive their meeting 2 weeks ago. Will be a close game though and Quinns were near on flawless throughout the season. But my intuition is pointing towards the boys from the Mud Pile at Stock Road in this one. The rams will take much confidence out of last weeks total demolition of Kinglsey.
Rams by 7 points. Cant wait to hear the Golden Fleece in fine voice over this one.

Ressies encounter- Im going for the Blues here. Although most fairytales end in a happy way. The Ocean Ridge dream run from 5th spot will end on Saturday. The Blues will be oozing with confidence and will have no trouble dismantling of the Onion Ridge boys.
Willo by 36 points.

Colts- The Willetton colties are in fine form. Easily dismantling the Quinns boys 2 weeks ago. No doubt that will be firmly entrenched in the Bulls Boys minds. Willetton seem to have hit their straps and kicking a lot of goals. The week off would have freshened them up while the Quinns boys had to grind out a win in the Prelim on Saturday.
Willo by 24 points.

Winners enjoy the froffs, losers- just try figure out where it all went wrong.
Bring on season 2016! Happy to see you go to the B grade forums next year Golden Fleece!

Don't get me wrong Golden Fleece, I would love to see the Rams get up, just using my un-biased judgement. I do think it will be a belter of a game and could go either way!

Haha absolutely, gotta get myself through a slow Monday at the office somehow!

The Creeks Mad Monday?? Missed the invite to that one, not sure why they would invite me to be honest given I have nothing to do with that club - would be very happy if you want to extend the invite to the Rams Mad Monday though!

Firstly sorry DB assumed you were from the Creek.
Secondly I never thought I would say this but I
Was very impressed by Onionridge's form on
Saturday lining up for the Rams as we ran out of the change rooms
I hope you belt Willo on Saturday in the Magoos.

I won't comment on Saturday too much about what went down at stock rd
Most people that needed to be there were and witnessed the Rams
Totally dismantle a Hapless Kingsley outfit in the first 13 minutes.
And I give you the Hot Tip The Boy's From The Bull Ring wouldn't.
Have liked what they saw despite what they tell you.

Pack your lunch you mob and enjoy the bus trip
I will post Friday morning to give my GF Preview.

Morning all ! Before you start reading, go to the toilet, make yourself a coffee and get a comfy seat because your going to be here for a while.

Grand Final eve is upon us, and can you feel/taste the excitement ! Firstly some quick stats to summarise the year.
- In the C1 competition this year clubs used enough strapping tape to circle the circumference of the earth 3 times, and enough Deep Heat to keep Adam Goodes warm for 3 games
- There were 44 yellow cards and 11 red card dished out.............to Bassendean players alone
- Gosnells players used enough tattoo ink this season to paint the roof of the Sistine Chapel twice, including such gems as 'C2 Premiers 2016'
- Willetton Blues went through 132kgs of Vaseline during 'team bonding sessions'. - A total 3 players from Kinsgley got haircuts since February pre-season started (if you need a hairdresser, get down to Kinsgley and support a local business as it has been slow)
- The total amount of fuel used by players, coaching staff and supporters to drive to games at Quinns and back this year would be enough to keep all machinery on Rio Tinto's Pilbara ore mines running for 18 months.
- Bull Creek Leeming's coach abused the umpires a total of 1567 times during the year, down from 2674 times last year which is great effort on his behalf
- Melville Rams supporters on the balcony 'smashed the sign' a total of 182 times during home games this year, resulting in it needed to be replaced 4 times
- Heathridge Park received 425mm of rain this calendar year, and 424mm of that is still sitting on the surface. The WA government are looking at using this oval as a catchment area to solve Perth's water woes during the summer months
- 216 cars were broken into in the Lynwood-Ferndale car park this year. Again, a new record surpassing last years mark of 186. This number is expected to triple in C2 next year
- 21 Carlisle players got 'C1 Premiers 2015' tattooed on the left arse cheek after round 9. This was removed through a combination of anal tearing from opposition across the next 11 games, and the sudden drop 'back to reality'
- Willetton have the most health conscious facilities in the WAAFL. Fans and players walked a total of 8,857 kilometres to the club rooms to take a piss from their bar facilities and benches this year, losing a combined weight of 2.6T !

Now before I start my game preview, I want to get something off my chest. Something which has been bugging me all season. There is an epidemic in the WAAFL. Its started as a small infection last year in some C1 league sides, but has spread like Ebola this year across almost the entire C1, C1R and Colts and dare I say it all WAAFL grades. That disease is singing the team song on the field after a regular home and away season win ! That honour is for grand final winners only you muppets ! It has gotten so bad, yours truly watched the Kingsley C1R side earlier this year sing the song once on the field then a second time back in the room for good measure ! Seriously what is wrong with these people, do they expect a medal ceremony and a trophy to be presented at the end of every game also?!?! I don't think anyone can handle 18 Mad Mondays a year ! What a bunch of grippers !! This should be high on the agenda at the next WAAFL AGM, and clubs docked points for being total flogs and singing on the ground. Enjoy the moment and companionship that comes with singing the team song after a hard earned win in the confines of your locker room, that moment is earnt by you ,your teammates and your coaching staff only . And please, keep the public singing for the grand final like 99% of other associations do! That's the time to allow supporters and members the moment to join in and celebrate the clubs success which they all played a part in achieving. CAN I GET AN AMEN !!

Now, onto the game. For these clubs who started pre-season in early Feb, 32 weeks, 64 training sessions and 21 games of blood, sweat, stitches, blisters, sprains, corks, knocks, bruises, victories and defeats has lead them to the final sprint of the marathon at Shark Park on Saturday. Quinns and Melville have booked their 4th date with each other for the season, clearly the best 2 sides in the comp and worthy of the centre stage. Their last 2 contests have been rippers, decided by less than 2 goals and each team getting a taste of the chocolates. The last match up was in the 2nd Semi. A much talked about game, which Melville thinks they should have won. And they should have, bad kicking is bad football, but they were on top in that game for 85 minutes and should have sealed it at 3 quarter time. If Quinns weren't worried about that I'll walk east. Still the loss presented the Rams another chance to get some game time into players against Kingsley, and they feasted to the tune of 95 points and came out injury free. Quinns spent another week wondering what the feel of contested football is like, and the GF will be there 2nd outing in a month. Quinns has the QUI engraved on the trophy after 9 rounds, but must have done the same as Collingwood at the half way point, because they have been vulnerable since. On the flipside, Melville hit the turn and went on an impressive 11 game winning streak before being beaten in the 2nd semi. These teams play different brands of football. Quinns like to press, get on the outside and get the ball into the hands of their good users to find targets up forward on the lead. They play quarterback well, feeding it back into space, switching wide and running the ball along the wings. Melville play a contested game, preferring 1 on 1 in the back line, and using pressure through the middle and forward line to cause turnovers and repeat entries to keep the scoreboard ticking over. They are the best tackling side in the comp, and have used a physical approach this year to overpower the opposition. The wide expanses of Shark Park will pay a role in this, however even though the oval looks big the game is normally played in a small part of the ground as the wind dictates where the games will be played. This will play into Melville's hands as it will make the game contested which they love. This will be a belter of a game, I can't wait. My tip, and in case you haven't noticed during the year I am a bit biased, but I truly think the Rams will win it by 11 points. This will earn them the right to sing the best song in WAAFL football on the oval after the final siren for the first time this year, as all clubs should do.

In the Reserves, Ocean Ridge by less than a kick,

In the juniors, Quinns to bring at least one flag back to south Geraldton.

Have a great weekend everyone. What a weekend for WA football ! Eagles and Dockers in home Qualifying Finals, WAAFL GF's galour and WAFL finals about as interesting as a lady bug walking across a rock. Stay safe anyone, drink plenty, be respectful and above all else, winners enjoy the piss !!

Great right up "Get around him" very humorous. Although i think you may have this one wrong:
- Bull Creek Leeming's coach abused the umpires a total of 1567 times during the year, down from 2674 times last year which is great effort on his behalf,
the 1567 was only during the Colts game he umpired himself you forgot to add the league games umpire abuse of 1954 therefore setting a new record of 3521.

Good luck to all teams in the GF this year and may the winners enjoy the frothies Saturday night, Sunday and Monday.

Singing the song on the oval is so cringe worthy. Do that in the rooms so people can hear not see. Save the big song and dance for your GF win.

Why is everyone congratulating Quinns and Melville for being promoted to B Grade? Unless you win the flag going up a grade means nothing, should be one up one down
