Having a look at the results I'm sure the Swan Ath v Hamersley game in the League was exciting (I had it as my match of the round if you all remembered, good choice by me I think) while all the other games saw blow outs.
Firstly I'll apologise for my tardiness of the write up MrM has been busy so far this Monday morning. Doing what you ask? Well I'll leave that up to your imagination.
MrM enjoyed a nice morning on Saturday, heading to watch some D Grade football before the big game between Wembley and Wanneroo in the B League fixture.
I did catch about 3 quarters of the game between Whitford and Wembley in the Reserves. It was quite close at quarter time, before Whitford blew the game open and controlled it for the majority till the final siren.
As usual MrM travelled to the canteen and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had introduced some hot chips and I was even more surprised they were well cooked and well priced and even better they were good to eat.
I'll give them a 8/10 for an overall canteen value. A great way to start the day for MrM. But as I'm about to tell you and you probably saw, from Wanneroo's perspective it didn't get much better.
The first quarter started and the high pressure on the man with the ball was evident from the very start. As somebody said on the preview for the game if Noakes kicked under 3 goals then Wanneroo would have a chance of winning. Well that was going to be tough as Wembley had control of the game, right from the start in the first quarter and Noakes and Seal kicked the first 5 of the game between them. It wasn't until late in the first quarter Wanneroo started to wrestle back some momentum.
As the second quarter start Wanneroo needed to get off to a good start but they didn't as Wembley looked as if they were going to blow the margin up even more as we headed into the main break. Wanneroo did manage two quick goals before half time to keep themselves in the contest but they were still 6 goals down at half time.
It was going to take a good effort for Wanneroo to get back into the game. In the third quarter a jump in intensity and effort from Wanneroo was what was needed and that's what they managed to do for the majority of the quarter. They threatened to get back into the game however it wasn't to be but MrM still sense some spirit and fight left in the Roos yet, but costly turnovers and some poor kicking again was costing them any chance of getting back into it.
As Wanneroo tried to open the game up in the last quarter the flood gates opened for Wembley as they were too good in every facet of the game. If Wanneroo wants to progress in the finals they will need to improve next weekend against Hammersley Carine.
Would like to hear about Swan Aths game. Perhaps they did choose the wrong side as someone said on the preview.
