Hamersley Carine 0.0 0.0 0.0 5.8 (38)
Swan Athletic 0.0 0.0 0.0 11.6 (72)

Having a look at the results I'm sure the Swan Ath v Hamersley game in the League was exciting (I had it as my match of the round if you all remembered, good choice by me I think) while all the other games saw blow outs.

Firstly I'll apologise for my tardiness of the write up MrM has been busy so far this Monday morning. Doing what you ask? Well I'll leave that up to your imagination.

MrM enjoyed a nice morning on Saturday, heading to watch some D Grade football before the big game between Wembley and Wanneroo in the B League fixture.
I did catch about 3 quarters of the game between Whitford and Wembley in the Reserves. It was quite close at quarter time, before Whitford blew the game open and controlled it for the majority till the final siren.

As usual MrM travelled to the canteen and I was pleasantly surprised to see they had introduced some hot chips and I was even more surprised they were well cooked and well priced and even better they were good to eat.
I'll give them a 8/10 for an overall canteen value. A great way to start the day for MrM. But as I'm about to tell you and you probably saw, from Wanneroo's perspective it didn't get much better.

The first quarter started and the high pressure on the man with the ball was evident from the very start. As somebody said on the preview for the game if Noakes kicked under 3 goals then Wanneroo would have a chance of winning. Well that was going to be tough as Wembley had control of the game, right from the start in the first quarter and Noakes and Seal kicked the first 5 of the game between them. It wasn't until late in the first quarter Wanneroo started to wrestle back some momentum.
As the second quarter start Wanneroo needed to get off to a good start but they didn't as Wembley looked as if they were going to blow the margin up even more as we headed into the main break. Wanneroo did manage two quick goals before half time to keep themselves in the contest but they were still 6 goals down at half time.

It was going to take a good effort for Wanneroo to get back into the game. In the third quarter a jump in intensity and effort from Wanneroo was what was needed and that's what they managed to do for the majority of the quarter. They threatened to get back into the game however it wasn't to be but MrM still sense some spirit and fight left in the Roos yet, but costly turnovers and some poor kicking again was costing them any chance of getting back into it.
As Wanneroo tried to open the game up in the last quarter the flood gates opened for Wembley as they were too good in every facet of the game. If Wanneroo wants to progress in the finals they will need to improve next weekend against Hammersley Carine.

Would like to hear about Swan Aths game. Perhaps they did choose the wrong side as someone said on the preview.

Hey MrM,
Quick question, with a conversion rate of 71% Wembley seemingly took the game away from Wanneroo early. Not being at the match myself, were Wembley kicking goals from all angles or were Wanneroo giving up too many possesions inside the forward 50m corridor which allowed easy shots on goal?

The_Duck. It was a mixture of both. Sure they did kick some goals from tough angles but they also were allowed to do as they pleased on occasions inside the forward 50.
However they being said they made the most of their opportunities and Wanneroo didn't from their few chances.

Hamersley Carine V Swan Ath game was a cracker, a very physical game which may have an effect on the Hamersley boys this week
As you can see from the final score Hamersley did all they could to keep Swan Ath in the game with missed opportunities up forward, Hamersley forwards seemed under pressure all day where as when it did go forward for Swan Ath they appeared to score a lot easier
Will be inertesting to see if Hamersley play an unchanged side this week as it looked like a couple of senior players were struggling all day

Good insight Doug. Especialy with their Reserves now out as well, your would expect some reinforcements to bolster the tired bodies.

Looked like a cracking game though!

Managed to pop down to watch the Wembley v Wanneroo game - unfortunately Swan Aths was a little too far to travel.

The reserves was a blow out. Whitfords were too strong all around the ground and had some impressive run. They however appeared to have half of their leagues side on the track - they did well to qualify them all. Scarborough will have their hands full to beat them.

The league was a blow out. Wembley's pressure was too much though I will give Wanneroo credit as they did not give up all day.

Will be interesting to see how Wembley fair against Scarborough this week. There does not seem to be much between the 2 sides - could be a coin toss GF.
