Well 18 rounds have come and gone, and we have cut our comp into 5 teams left. Now the real season starts, and what has happened for the first 18 weeks counts for little, if you don't get the success at the end of the season. It looks like there will be some wet weather around, and this will add to the spectacle of hard and wet finals football. Good luck to everyone, ill try to cover all four games as best I can
Elimination Finals - Played at Browns Park
Reserves - SNESA v Dianella Morley
results this year: Round 6 SNESA wins away by 24 points.....Round 15 SNESA wins at home by 18 points. This could be a close game, and a lot will depend on the number of players qualified for SNESA. The results have shown that Dianella Morley are getting close, and on their day they can have a real physical presence about the way they play. If SNESA has dropped a few then I expect them to have to much class, provided the guys are happy to play while their mates are drinking beers watching them, if not this will be close. In the rain I expect SNESA to have just a bit to much class and they will win this game by about a goal.
Umpires for this game are : Craig Cherry & Shane Mauger, good luck gents be watching things early and you will have a good day
League - Swan View v Dianella Morley:
Results this year: Round 9 Swan View wins away by 32 points.....Round 18 Swan View wins at home by 16 points. I think this will be a high quality game of two teams with contrasting playing styles. Swan View like to defend and counter attack when they can open the game up, Dianella Morley like to play attacking footy where they score at all costs, but they are open to being scored against. Swan View have to go in favourites based on the fact they finished 2 games clear of fifth spot, but we all know on their day Dianella Morley can turn it on and score heavily. A lot depends on player availability for both sides. I thin Swan View at home by 8 points as the margin continues to halve every time these sides play.
Umpires for this game are : Warren Haley & Shane Ziarkievic, good luck gents be ready for a ferocious game of footy that will have a lot of highlights
Qualifying Finals - Played at Piara Waters Pavilion
Reserves - Ellenbrook v Ballajura
Results this year: Round 5 Ellenbrook won by 50 points away, round 14 Ellenbrook won by 51 points at home. This looks to be a good curtain raiser to the main final, and one that I don't believe will be decided by 50 points this time around. Ellenbrook have won both meetings this year fairly easily, however at the end of the season percentage was the only thing separating these sides. Ballajura have the luxury of their league side not playing, this gives their reserves side a chance to top up with some extra talent, Ellenbrook will be fresh as they had the chance to rest a few in round 18 due to their thirds having a bye that week. The question is will the week off before finals make Ellenbrook slow out of the blocks or will the extra couple of players from Ballajura make them a better side. This fixture will be close and extremely physical with both sides having big bodies around the ball ill back Whiteys boys by less than a goal. On a side note this game will be well supported with Balla boys coming to watch and then watch their opponent for the following week, while Ellenbrook has 2 sides playing at Piara so they will bring the crowd with them.
Umpires for this game are : Tim Edgar & Todd Wedgwood, bring your running shoes boys, and watch the rough stuff on the edges of the packs
League - Piara Waters v Ellenbrook
Results this year: Round 7 Piara Waters wins at home by 17 points, Round 16 Piara Waters wins away by 21 points. I think this game will be a cracker, for the winners there is huge rewards, and for the losers, while its not all over they will have to not loose again this year to win the big dance. At the end of the year 4 points and .16 of a percentage point separates these sides, Both sides basically scored the same this year, and bot sides basically had the same scored against them this year. Both times these sides have met they have been close physical contests with the result not decided until the final moments of both games. I expect this to be similar, and nothing more than a goal or two either way all day. Can Ellenbrook get the chokies here, or will they have numbers stretched due to having two sides playing. Does Piara have enough soldiers to cover their injuries and lack of depth or will they drop away in the coming weeks? I guess we will have a better idea at about 5.00pm Saturday arvo, however as I always do ill back the boys from Piara to run out the game better then their opponent.
Umpires for this game are : Trevor Blackburn & Matthew Gibbs, bring your running shoes boys, and make sure you let the boys play.....
Good luck to everyone, Remember, win or loose were on the booze......
To those sides that drop out this weekend well played all year, enjoy your mad Monday
