Well as The_Duck pointed out on the other B Grade topic I got 5/5 this week. If you add in the AFL tipping I got 8/9, so not a bad weekend for MrM.
Things are now getting quite interesting as we head to the end of the season. Scarborough needs one more win to guarantee top spot but have a tough finish to the end of the season. While we still do not know the order of the sides who will finish in the top 5.
MrM enjoyed a nice little journey up towards Kingsway on Saturday. When I say little journey, we were barely through the instrumental intro on "Bat Out of Hell" when MrM strolled into the car park, however given that intro goes for 15 minutes who knows where I could have come from. MrM was ready for a big day and hoping for nothing less than 3 "Simons".
One thing MrM noticed about Kingsway was how cold it was. I'm not talking about the reception he received from those on the balcony either, I'm talking the temperature and the breeze, MrM was feeling quite chilly.
The colts must have felt cold as well as they got off to quote a slow start, not even registering a point on the scoreboard till the second quarter and that's all they carried in to the second half, a solitary point. However after quarter time they showed some spirit and taught hard to get back into the game and were quite close to pinching s victory. They ended up losing by 4 points in a tight game. With only 4 of those players not eligible to play colts next season, things are looking up for the colts.
The Reserves, well they weren't so lucky to get away with a slow start and then get back into the contest. From the outset Kingsway dictated the play and controlled it from backline to forward line, with #17 cleaning up as he strolled across the backline collecting kicks as he willed. He was noticeable for due to his apparent lack of respect for the dress code as he wore white ankle socks and his haircut left much to be desired. However overall Kingsway were just too good as Wanneroo lost by a more than a few goals.
The League game was important for both sides as Wanneroo needed a win to maintain their position in the top 3 of the ladder, while Kingsway needed a win as they could still be relegated.
Kingsway got off to the start they were looking for and in the first quarter they looked to be all over Wanneroo. Kingsway kicked 4 goals in the first quarter as Wanneroo struggled to get into the game. In the second though Wanneroo looked to be turning the tide and were pushing hard to get back into the game, some bad kicking at goal however cost them as they were still down at half time, but MrM was quiet confident they could turn it around as they couldn't play that bad in the second half.
So MrM wandered up towards the canteen to see what Kingsway had to offer in the food category. MrM was happy with the pricing of the hot chips however I think the oil in the deep fryer needs to be changed as I thought they could have been better, it was pretty nice for pricing as MrM also treated himself to a nice hamburger. Overall I'll give it a solid 6.5/10.
MrM also had a nice gander at the ladies day on upstairs, however no potential future MrsM stood out, so I can't really award points for that but I will. 5.5/10, A ladies day is always a great initiative and it's usually for a great cause.
The third quarter was about to start as MrM polished off his hamburger and took his place on the boundary line seating ready for the premiership quarter. Kingsway's game plan in the second half appeared to be going the knuckle (good name for a horse) as a nice fracas erupted in the third quarter. It amazes me that nobody was sent off after the fracas, not even a yellow, MrM would rather see a yellow then it continue to explode again, which was threatening all day.
As Kingsway were more concerned about going after one player, in fact MrM walked into their rooms only to see that players photo with darts thrown at his face, Wanneroo were concentrated on impacting the scoreboard as they fought their way back into the game and led as we started the fourth quarter.
Wanneroo were all over Kingsway in the last quarter and ran out the game strongly. If they played like that from the start the game would have never been in doubt.
Only two weeks left of the regular season, so hang in there folks.
