Round 15
North Beach may well have landed the knockout punch against Nth Freo last week. I do feel sorry for Nth Freo though. They have lost three games in 2015 by a single point and another two by less than 2 goals. Their percentage is more than 100% and they are literally staring down the barrel of relegation, given they play WCC, TA’s & Uni in their last three games. Their opposition in the relegation stakes is Kalamunda who play ML, Uni & NB in their last three games. The Gods have not been with the Magpies this year and having to endure the embarrassment of returning back to B Grade would be an extraordinary disappointment. The odds are seemingly with Kalamunda, who after three wins in four weeks lowered their colours to TA’s by a bigger margin than expected. Kelmscott were more than competitive against Wesley whilst the Coasters were not so competitive against CBC and now have to contend with the terror of the South Suburban corridor, in the race for fifth spot.
(1) North Beach 7th (6 & eight) vs. Trinity Aquinas 2nd (11 & 3)
Last Time: TA’s def North Beach by 67 points
When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Nth Beach won their second game in two weeks by a single point and in doing so has avoided relegation. To survive North Beach won three games by just the single point and another by 1 goal. in 2015. They will stay in A Grade in 2016. Their supporters can breathe a collective sigh of relief. TA’s must win their last 4 games to finish 1st or 2nd. Percentage will be important as they need to peg back 100 points to jump above University. North Beach will be buoyed by their last two wins and are in with a chance but TA’s should have enough to get up comfortably.
TA’s by 24 points
(2) Kelmscott 6th (7 & 7) vs. Mt Lawley 10th (0 & 14)
Last Time: Kelmscott def Mt Lawley by 42 points
Despite losing six of their last seven games, Kelmscott with a few more players available were competitive against Wesley last week and TA’s the previous week. They have not lost sight that a spot in the five is still well within their reach and need a big percentage booster this week against Mt Lawley to reduce the gap between them and West Coast in the fight for fifth spot.
Kelmscott by 60 points
(3) CBC 4th (10 & 4) vs. North Fremantle 8th (4 & 10)
Last Time: CBC def Nth Freo by 4 points
Nth Freo must win at least two of their next four games to stay ahead of Kalamunda and avoid relegation. CBC on the other hand probably needs to win all four games to have any chance of jumping over Wesley or TA's. Even if the Maggies come to play, I can’t see them defeating the talented CBC outfit.
CBC by 36 points
(4) Kalamunda 9th (4 & 10) vs. Wesley Curtin 3rd (10 & 4)
Last time: Wesley def Kalamunda by 57 points
The pressure is right back on Kalamunda now to avoid relegation. Given they play ML & NB in their last three games a win against a top 5 side would make survival in A Grade almost guaranteed. Wesley believes they are the form team of the competition having beaten Uni & TA’s in two of their last three games. Kalamunda need a win against the odds. It won’t be in this game though!
Wesley by 42 points
(5) University 1st (11 & 3) Vs West Coast Cowan 5th (7 & 7)
Last time: Kelmscott def Wesley by 12 points
Uni beat Mt Lawley by 110 points and gained an important percentage buffer against TA’s to tighten their grip on top spot. West Coast lost their opportunity to lock up 5th spot in losing to CBC. Another win against the odds for the Coasters will not be an easy task. Having said that they matched up well against Uni the last time the two sides met. Whilst the Coasters will be more than competitive I don’t think they can overcome Uni, but I’d love to be wrong!
University by 24 point
