Round 13
There are some season defining matches this weekend that will almost certainly determine who will make finals and who will still have a chance to avoid relegation. Depending on the results, in the fight for fifth spot West Coast could jump over Kelmscott and in the fight to avoid relegation North Beach could find themselves back in 9th spot. The next six rounds will be interesting to say the least.
(1) North Beach 8th (4 & eight) vs. CBC 3rd (9 & 3)
Last Time: CBC def Nth Beach by 46 points
CBC fought hard to put away 9th placed Kalamunda by only 13 points last week, and they must win this game to ensure the pressure is maintained on TA’s in the fight for 2nd spot. Conversely this looms as a potential relegation game for Beach because another loss and a win to Kalamunda means they drop to 9th on the ladder. CBC’s should win this one.
CBC by 30 points
(2) Mt Lawley 10th (0 & 10) vs. West Coast Cowan 6th (6 & 6)
Last Time: WCC def Mt Lawley by 23 points
West Coast turned it on and belted Nth Beach by 77 points last week. Mt Lawley are seemingly just going through the motions and seem destined to be the first A Grade side for twenty Years not to win a match during the season. Bennet should kick 10 and ensure West Coast to jump back into 5th spot.
West Coast by 72 points
(3) Kelmscott 5th (7 & 5) vs. Trinity Aquinas 2nd (9 & 3)
Last Time: TA’s def Kelmscott by 103 points
Kelmscott seemingly on the ropes and look destined to lose the spot in the five they have held all year. TA’s played their best football for several weeks against top side University going down in the end by 9 points. TA’s to win and maintain their top 3 spot.
TA’s by 24 points
(4) Kalamunda 9th (3 & 9) Vs North Fremantle 7th (4 & eight)
Last time: Nth Ftle def Kalamunda by 31 points
This should be the first of a number of “elimination finals” that both clubs will face over the next 6 weeks. North Freo came away as convincing winners against Kelmscott last week whilst Kalamunda only went down by 13 points against CBC. In the end it boils down to which team values their place in A Grade enough to do the tough one per centers to ensure victory.
Kalamunda by 6 points
(5) University 1st (10 & 2) Vs Wesley Curtin 4th (eight & 4)
Last time: Wesley def Uni by 8 points
Wesley have won 5 of their last 6 and are anxious to jump into the top three at the expense of CBC or TA’s, to guarantee that 2nd chance come finals time. Uni are travelling beautifully at the moment, and I really cannot see them dropping another game between now and the finals. Expect Uni to get their 8th straight win and put to rest any doubt about their top of the table position.
University by 24 points
