It is the Top five sides versus the bottom five sides this week and based on form that should mean fairly predictable results. So far in season 2015, not one side presently placed in the bottom four have beaten ANY side in the top 6. However it is clear that Nth Freo has turned the corner and should be a real chance this week. With University holidays set to kick in late this week some teams may feel the pinch with players having other priorities other than footy.
West Coast 6th (5 & 4) Vs Trinity Aquinas 1st (8 & 1)
Rnd 1: TA’s def WCC by 47 points
Wesley only just went down to CBC last week by 9 points. Despite the loss they climbed back into the top 5. TA’s only just got up against an improved Nth Freo and from what I understand it could have gone either way at the end. Whilst it will be much closer this week than in Rnd 1, I still think TA’s are the 2nd best team in the competition.

Mt Lawley 10th (0 & 9) Vs CBC 3rd (7 & 2)
Rnd 1: CBC def Mt Lawley by 95 points
It has been a horror season for the Hawks and unfortunately for them it is only going to get worse. CBC has established their position in the top 3 and won’t give that up this week.
CBC by 10 goals
Kelmscott 4th (7 & 2) Vs Kalamunda 9th (1 &
Rd 1: Kelmscott def Kalamunda by 13 points
Kelmscott put away West Coast easily last week and continue to impress despite all the predictions (including my won) prior to the season that they would struggle matching it with the big boys. Now a finish in the top 5 is theirs to lose! Obviously they must continue to win well to maintain their charge at a top 3 finish. Unfortunately for Kalamunda they will need a miracle to get as close as they did in round 1.

Wesley Curtin 5th (5 & 4) Vs North Fremantle 8th (2 & 7)
Rnd 1: Wesley def Nth Freo by 29 points
This could be the boilover of the round. Nth Freo continue to improve and surely have to win one of the close ones after 4 losses under 2 goals in season 2015. Wesley took it up to CBC last week but as with the Port side could not come away with the win. Wesley’s spot in the five is under threat if they drop this game. Should be a ripper but I will stay with last year’s runners up.
Wesley by 3 goals
University 2nd (7 & 2) Vs North Beach 7th (3 & 6)
Rnd 1: University def North Beach by 4 points.
In the first three games I was surprised Uni’s form was OK but not of the standard I would have expected from last year’s Premiers. Since then they have shaken off the cob webs and shown us all why they have been the best side in the competition for over 4 years. They have wreaked havoc in the last four games with an average winning margin around 80 points. I honestly don’t think Beach will reduce that average winning margin substantially this week unless half the Uni side is on vacation.
