Our club has been a huge part of the local and wider community for as long as we've been around and vice versa. And it would be no different in any country/rural town.

Sometimes you have to look in places like online footy forums to find players. Its tough getting guys to play footy in the country these days.

I'm with robberdog.....mercenary footballers chasing coin. It's false success and doesn't last so what's the point?

Especially when these so called mercenaries are being paid more by amateur clubs. I know of a couple players where their individual "package" is supposedly more,than half of our entire budget for 7-8 players.

Of course you do mate. Plastic success again then isn't it? Pretty much what your club is about so it seems. Make sure when you hang your pennants that you write bought for next to them.

Your quite uneducated on the subject! There wouldn't be many country teams in WA that dont pay for players and without doing so alot of clubs wouldn't survive. A club in our comp has 8-9 paid players and they are on the bottom and struggle to get a reserves team. The local community would rather fork out some cash for a few players and for the team to still be no good than to have no team at all.

Danger, while I understand what your doing, and I understand the importance of country clubs getting players to be strong ill just say one thing mate.

This is poor F#$%ing form to get on here now, when most comps are at the half way mark and try to poach players from them.

Get your club to do your research early in the year champ, and make appropriate offers to people before the season starts. But to get on forums like this, offer money around and then pick the eyes out of struggling clubs half way through the year isn't a good look for your club, and wont win you to many friends.

As I said mate, just a passing comment, I don't need a reply from you telling me that every club does it because only a greedy few do and most of those clubs cycle downwards again very quickly when the money dries up the following year

Am hardly jumping on here trying to poach players. Poaching would involve approaching individual players with offers more generous than they already have. Also to suggest I or we are trying to pick the eyes out of struggling clubs is blatantly wrong! There are always players about that are not happy at their club,maybe can't cut it or commit to WAFL footy or simply need the cash.Im not from an amateur team offering cash so you boys need to get off your soap box!
