The encouraging aspect of Rnd 8 was the improved performances of both North Beach & North Fremantle. The half way point of the season is exceptional if only for the fact that no side in the bottom four have beaten ANY side in the top 6. Wesley & West Coast are faced with must win games this week to avoid falling two games behind the top 4 clubs.
Wesley 6th (5 & 3) Vs CBC 3rd (6 & 2)
Wesley only just got up against an improved North Beach outfit last week and CBC missed out in the end by a kick against top side TA’s. Wesley are currently sitting outside the top five on percentage and this week’s game is a mini final for them. A loss will make a top 3 finish very difficult and leave them in a cut throat battle for 5th spot over the remainder of the season. CBC will tighten their grip on 3rd spot if they bring last week’s form with them. It should be close all day but in the end I think the CBC big man brigade will be the difference.

Trinity Aquinas 1st (7 & 1) Vs North Fremantle 7th (2 & 6)
The Maggies had a real crack last week only going down by 12 points to WCC. Whilst a finals finish is now an impossible dream for North Freo a win will do much for their confidence and get them out of the relegation zone. At home TA’s are always hard to beat and whilst I expect the Maggies to be competitive they will not have enough to get over the formidable TA’s outfit.

West Coast Cowan 5th (5 & 3) Vs Kelmscott 4th (6 & 2)
A loss to either side this week could see them slip to 6th place on the ladder. Last week the Coasters failed to put away 7th place side North Freo easily and Kelmscott did not stand up when it counted against 2nd placed University. With their lack of depth always their Achilles heel Kelmscott must win the games against the other top sides. Similarly if the Coasters are serious about their first return to A Grade finals in 20 years or so then it is a must win game for them. It will go down to the wire.
West Coast by 2 points
Mt Lawley 10th (0 & Vs North Beach 8th (2 & 6)
Unfortunately last week’s loss to Kalamunda meant it will be B Grade for Mt Lawley in 2016 after several strong years in A Grade. North Beach must have been gutted after matching it with Wesley all day and just going down by a kick at the end. A win this week will mean the young Beach outfit have pretty much avoided relegation in 2015. An unexpected loss means they remain in the relegation wash up over the rest of the year.

University 2nd (6 & 2) Vs Kalamunda 9th (1 & 7)
Uni have been on fire during the last three weeks averaging 70 point wins against Mt Lawley, WCC and Kelmscott. Unfortunately for Kalamunda, if Uni bring that form on Saturday it will be another slaughter. Whilst Kalamunda broke through last week against Mt Lawley the best they can hope for this week is to limit the damage.
