A weekend where we saw the gap really widen between the top half of the ladder and the bottom half. We had no score from Collegians v Maddington however judging by Collegians goal kickers they kicked 20 goals so I'd suggest they managed to get a win if they didn't well unlucky.
It was a pleasant Saturday morning as MrM was at Wanneroo Showground nice and early soaking up the atmosphere of the young ones running around in the Auskick. It's good to see over 200 kids, all loving football, all having fun.
Perhaps the next game Wanneroo Colts might look at grabbing some of the Auskick kids to play for them next game as they couldn't do any worse. It wasn't a good start for Wanneroo as the Colts were outplayed and outclassed. Also looked like they lacked effort, with many young players (17 year olds) they can improve. They lost by near on 100 points.
The Reserves improved from their efforts of the previous 6 weeks and played some good football. From the outset they had command of the game and were able to capitalise on the opportunities going forward. If they can keep it up the form they showed they make a push for finals.
The Wanneroo League side looked good in Pink as the ran out for the important clash v Kingsway. It was an even first quarter as play was split between both sides with equal opportunities created from both the way these sides were playing. It wasn't until the second where Wanneroo started to hit the front as they threatened to put the foot down and run away with the game. Kingsway had some chances, but bad kicking cost them any chance of getting back into the game in the second quarter.
Heading into the main break Wanneroo were a few goals up and still had their work cut out for them if they were going to win. They came out in the third quarter and put the game nearly beyond doubt within the first 15 minutes of the quarter. Some good ball movement meant the forwards were getting plenty of chances. Kingsway played with a spare man in defence for most of the day but mostly it was ineffective. Wanneroo held a 40 point lead as the Third quarter finished. The talk around the group was they they wanted to keep pushing right to the final siren. It was much of the same in the last as Wanneroo continued on their way and finished winners by nearly 10 goals.
I know many at Wanneroo are looking forward to the break with fishing and camping trips organised which MrM has again been excluded from. I hope everybody else is looking forward to a well deserved week off as we don't get another one in B Grade till the end of the season.
