Well the early season favourites have cemented their position at the top of the ladder. Swan Ath and Hamersley still undefeated. Scarborough continue to play good football and get the job done, Wembley got back to the winners list and Stirling did what they needed to do and grabbed a win.
MrM enjoyed the pleasant trip up towards grape picking country on Saturday. What a beautiful place it would be to live. The sun was shining and it was sure to be a good day.
I arrived at quarter time of the colts game and was pleasantly surprised to see Wanneroo was leading against a side that looked much bigger and older then the young players Wanneroo had. Overall from what I witnessed Wanneroo played well but let themselves down at times with disposal under pressure. It was definitely an improved performance. More wins aren't far away for them as Swan Ath won by 9 points.
Reserves was another close contest with Wanneroo losing their 4th game this season under 10 points. A few injuries left them with 20 players in the second half. Still they got close to winning but fell short again. They win need to start winning games soon otherwise finals are just a fantasy. Swan Ath won by 9 points.
It was time for the much anticipated journey to the Canteen. MrM ordered himself a hamburger and chips. MrM loved the microphone calling out the order it sounded like MrM was at his local bingo. "Order 11 Hamburger and chips". Only one complaint. I think they used chicken gravy over the chips, MrM prefers beef gravy. However chips were great. Hamburger was great. Value for money was great.
Overall 8/10 actually I'll bump up an extra half a point for the best service this season. 8.5/10. Good job Swan Ath
Well the League game started as MrM was busily eating his food as Wanneroo got out to an early lead. As with most games from Wanneroo it was a closely contested game right from the start. Wanneroo had the early lead as Swan Ath hit back and at quarter time Wanneroo had a few point lead. The second quarter was much of the same, a few big hits and some blood spilled. Wanneroo now had doubled their lead (well from MrM's memory anyway).
In the third quarter Wanneroo controlled the play early on however couldn't capitalise on the scoreboard, it wasn't until late in the third where Swan Ath took control of the game and open their lead up to 3 goals at 3 quarter time. Swan Ath were in control early in the last quarter and it was an arm wrestle from then on. Swan Ath kicked a goal and then Wanneroo would kick one. Wanneroo grabbed some momentum however it was too little too late. Swan Ath were winners by 15 points and proved they may take some beating.
Interested to hear from some other games.
