Got around to a few games on Saturday and thought the standard of umpiring was pretty good considering early in the year. Interesting that the umpiring has been pretty good at AFL so far this year and this seemed to be rub off on the standard Saturday with the games being allowed to go and players going about it in the right spirit.

Interested to see if it was similar across the board. Any good umpiring displays? Any shockers from the weekend?

Our game was well umpired MrTripleC.

I think the rule changes this year that reward the tackler make the game easier to umpire, and easier to watch.

I know last year in all footy I watched it was like umpires were not keen to reward the tackler and were happy that the ball spilt free, this just adds to the congestion and makes umpires miss more free kicks because there are more players in the scrimmage

New senior field umpires coach this year who is an ex AFL umpire and a very experienced group umpiring A & B league atm so should be a good year ahead. The only change is to the interpretation around holding the ball which is being applied a little more strictly the same as AFL.
