Heard that it was a pretty good hit out in all 3 grades at Basso on the weekend.
Colts was about 6/7 goals to TAs, Reserves by 4 goals to TAs and League by 2 goals to TAs. And numbers were apprantely good for all teams, even with key players missing! Good to hear and hope to see an even quality comp this year!!!

Heard tha maddington colts had a win over wcc. That should be proof in the pudding that they will no doubt have a team this season. Good on them.

Wow Mt Lawley to finish bottom two??????
Will be top 3 in my opinion and give it a big shake.
Recruited very well.

What is bottom 2 based on?

GWS - Based on history and the lack of information on this site. Can't really make an educated guess as for some reason, no A Grade Clubs are prepared to comment!

It would be great if a member from each club could write a paragraph about their preseason training and results, then we can all make an educated guess.

GWS - you care to start and write one about Mt Lawley?

Maddo and mt lawley are the teams who like to throw the $$ around to build a team but will lack consistancy as people are playing there for $$..

All the top teams are based on solid foundations.

as The Shiz said, hard to call so could be completely different.

MOUNT Lawley 2013

Mount Lawley after an average season in 2012 where they started very slowly and underdone and came home with a bit of a push late in the year when it was to late.

They have a new Coach in David Johnson who the club are very pleased to have on board.
A new message and a new environment has the club very excited about season 2013.
A new game plan has the lads working hard and the pre season has seen huge numbers for most of it. Even Sunday sessions were getting 40+ senior players.

They have only lost two of their senior list from last year and will get full seasons this year out of David Mckinlay, Jarrod Robinson and Nathan Shine pending injury.

They seem to have a good balance of players across the board but obviously game time is far different to training.

An influx of very good players have arrived at the club from all parts of the country, some from Cairns, Gold Coast, Victoria, and Adelaide. Some quality mids among these guys and looking forward to seeing what they can offer in the real games.
With the return of a few players from the 2011 squad which had a year off to travel the club seems to have some depth looking at it from afar.
The senior age colts players will also push hard for selection early in the season.
Height may be the only downfall I see but with the weight of ball I think the mids will get there should be a lot for the boys to be excited about.

As others have said how would anyone really know until they all play each other but as someone who has been very involved in the footy side for a long time from what I see the Hawks will be very competitive.

My prediction is top 3. But that of course is a biased prediction although a realistic one.

I guess we will wait and see.

Great write up GWS - that's what this forum is all about!

Whitford Warriors 2013

2012 saw new league coach Adam McMahon deliver the Warriors into another finals series. Although knocked out early, it was a year in which we saw the loss of a few key position players from the year before. Plenty of young players got their chance last year and will be keen to cement a spot in 2013.

2013 will welcome midfielder Michael Waddington back and fit from an ACL he ruptured last preseason. Really missed his hardness at the ball and leadership on the field. A few retirements and departures from the club in the off season as well. Radici's went country, captain has retired and a few mid range players have also left the club.

This creates fantastic opportunities for the young brigade to make their mark on the A grade side. A couple of handy midfielders join the club from country and WAFL reserve sides should see improvement in this area.

2013 will see the Warriors field a side that will aim to win contested ball and limit the opportunities that their opponents have. Adam McMahon is introducing a new game style that may take a while to implement but the positive part is the fact he has the buy in from the sqaud after 2 successful preseason matches.

Will be a tough year with the departure of some senior players from the club but if the Warriors get some wins early, it should set them up for a good year.

The Colts coach, Warren Nel has done a fantastic job in fielding 2 colts side for a few years so expect a few colts to get their chance this year.

The future looks bright for the Warriors, just need to give these young guys some time to develop and mature as we know this the key to sustained A grade success.

Ladder Prediction - 5th

I encourage members of other A Grade clubs to give us a summary of their year ahead also.
