Heard only getting 20-30 players and Wattleworth has returned to play at swan view where his brother is coaching leaving ath with no big men as a few have gone to swans as well.

anyone know if this is true?? if so isnt that about 3 or 4 clubs in as many years for wattleworth, think was at nth beach for a bit a couple of years ago when we played against them.

My mail too is that the young Wattleworth has returned to his former club where his older brother is coach and by the looks of it aths other ruckman from last year,Jake Nuich,is down at swans with a couple of others. They have however gained the services of Aaron Russell,ex swan view/west perth reserves. Not sure if he's top quality in A grade. Not sure if this is true but apparently they only had 33 at training last Wednesday and that's for 5 teams.

Ran into a few ath boys on the town last night, havent had many at training getting around 25-30 each session.

That is only for the top team there lower grades dont start untill the week before the season as it all the old guys who train thursday play sat, thats why they get belted each week.

Russell should be a handy pick up.

Shit, didn't think 25-30 was correct when I heard. Definitely not good for an A grade club only having that many let alone any club. Any goss on why such the low numbers. Probably not what wooden would've expected. Definitely my tip for relegation and it could get quite ugly if they only have 30 on the track at the moment.

Doesn’t sound like a great start for Swan Athletic, will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Any word about how some of the other A Grade clubs are fairing a month out from Round 1? Most would have had their interclub games by now and should have scratch matches lined up over the coming weeks.

Wesley Curtin are getting ready for their assault on A Grade. They have maintained the majority (all key players) of their squad from B Grade, but lost Dawe (full forward). Having said that they have replaced him with Nathan Phillips who should/will be a handful in the Amateurs Comp up forward.

I couldnt see my beloved Swan Athletic FC be written off any longer.

other clubs are quick to write off a team with little or no information. Ill be running around in the magoos when I can this year and have been down to Mcdonald St over the pre season.

Numbers are not excellent but the first 35-40 look the goods. Others like at other ammo clubs will come out of the woodowrk to fill the magoos and 3rds.

I could hardly keep up with the fitness of most of the group and besides being a hard tryer my fitness isnt that bad!

Dont write them off boys, could have some handy Swans players back early in the year. Russel will be handy, the forward line and midfield are strong. Aitcheson (ex Swans ball magnet) is likely to be premier midfielder in comp. Some colts kids could excite too

MacAttack,

Thanks for shedding some light on the situation out there.

Hope for your and the club’s sake these blokes come out of the woodwork sooner rather than later. 30-45 isn’t enough to spread across 3 senior sides and remain competitive, especially if you have fillers in your 2’s.

Depth is so important in A Grade all it takes is a couple of injury’s, mid season trip to Bali etc and the impact is club wide. Especially mid year in dark July.

Best of luck mate

Hi All,

Rather than use a forum as a Tipping Competition, I have created an A Grade Tipping Competition on the following site. It doesn't cost anything to join and sign up is only a few simple steps.

www.faceyoursfears.com/games/AGrade2013.html

Copy and paste this into your internet browser and start tipping!

Cheers.

Swan Ath Vs TA's scratchies on Saturday at Bassendean Oval.

T/A twos were a good outfit knocked us off well, they have good numbers and it shows.Game played in good spirit by both teams.

Caught most of the main game - Ath were up by a fair bit goin with that wind. TA then came back with it. Was pretty good game and close at the end. Think maybe a goal or two to the private school lads at the end.

Dunnno about those relegation predictons Athletic looked the goods, but just a practioce game
