Stock standard results on the weekend, obviously except our game, I probably would have picked all the other winners... Regular season over now, finals time.

Tough day for the Cougars at Yokine Reserve on the weekend.

Colts;
CWP not a bad side, had a bit more height than our boys. Better run and spread and finished well. Disappointing season in the end for the Cubs, probably had a better side than we put on the park most of the games with 5 or 6 Colts aged players being regulars in the League.. CWP Colts side probably impressed me the least out of the 5-finalists, remains to be seen how far they progress.

Reserves;
Tough finish to the season for our twos as injuries and depth have been tested. An admirable performance on the weekend though with around 10 Colts doubling up for the game, this old man even got to run around for the first quarter and a half as well. Nothing much to note on the game itself, apart from the CWP umpire calling some ridiculous decisions and waving around cards following those decisions... Nevertheless, both sides played with great spirits.

League;
CWP hungrier for the win, deserved their win as well. The Cougar side have 3 or 4 key injuries and had a young, inexperienced side on the park who couldn't handle the extra men CWP were throwing back. Poor skills and lack of desire in one quarter saw CWP pile on 5-goals to 0 and essentially steal the game for a great finish to their season. This old man only lasted just over a quarter as his peripheral vision failed him and he copped a big hit hahaha

Finals

Carlisle - BYE
Well deserved Minor Premiership to the team coming up from C3, best team all year, only beaten once. Fantastic season.

Canning Vale vs Bassendean
Big match, as in my eyes the Premiers will come from the top 3 sides. Bassendean have had a strong finish to the season and have probably the most exciting team in C2 this season. One would think that if their stars fire, they will be VERY hard to stop. The Cougars have had a slow finish, but still have only lost 4-games all season and are 2-0 against the Swans, so they will be confident they can get up at home this weekend.

Thornlie vs Mosman Park
Interesting game this one, the Lions have had an up and down season with some great wins and some poor losses. They face a Mosman Park side who have been even more hot and cold. Question must be asked, how will Mossie go without that excuse of an umpire on the ground, but I would think this game will be close and think it could go either way.
Loves kicking goals, passing them off is only an option.

No surprising results over the weekend apart from cwp getting the chocolates over CV.

Interesting comment about cwp colts.. by looking at the score they gave CV a touch up

Noranda Vs Carlilse.

A great down at Carlisle oval very welcoming culture with good crowd in and a beautiful day for footy.

League:

Carlisle very good running out 100 + point winners with the 23rd man for Carlisle in fine form as usual, this being said the result wouldn't have been too much different regardless of his strong performance. Credit to a handful of genuine guns in the impressive Carlisle outfit that will no doubt feature in the later stages of September.

Reserves:

The game was a good fight with the 23rd man for Carlisle controlling things from the outset, swearing and abusing Noranda players as well as his signature playmaking ability of giving cards for no reason, setting the game well in his sides favour. One of his match winning highlights was in the early stages of the 2nd term when a Carlisle player copped what seemed to be a fairly painful corky initiating a slight brain fade with the side making a wrong decision to replace the player that decided to leave the ground on the far boundary rather than through the interchange gates, the wrong move meant his day was over and got an early shower. Funnily enough 5 minutes later the 23rd man for Carlisle evened things up by showing red to one of Noranda's key players for a reason he was unable to justify to Noradas coach at the main break .He constantly crossed zones and over ruled the hawks nominated umpire and showed evident sarcastic intent in his match effecting decisions. Using the quote "just deal with it to hawks player after countless incorrect decisions.

One Noranda player indicated his opponent conceded that although very happy to receive unwarranted free kicks and clear advantages it was embarrassing and terrible for the game and had just been getting worse each week.

Carlise home by 5 goals in the end. The 23rd man was brilliant ensuring his men got first use through cheap free kicks and although finishing the game goalless himself was extremely influential contributing hugely with several match winning goal assists.

Colts:

Carlisle again taking the points running out victors by 5goals.

Really looking forward to having mutual umpires through the finals series with some disturbingly obvious favouring happening in numerous games this year which has no place in the game.

Also just to clear up, this is not a dig at Carlisle as a club as the reality is they are a very strong club and seem to be good blokes, this is a direct attack at the individuals that seem to think what they do is fair. From what I can see Carlisle don't need any extra favours and I'm sure they would be dissapointed and embarrassed at this issue taking an element of shine off what has been a great season for the club.

Good luck to all sides in the finals.

Didn't see any of the games, just read the scores in the Sunday paper. Sounds like Noranda got the raw end of the stick all day down at Carlisle. I must say judging by the scorelines Carlisle must have at least one or two decent players in each grade or were Noranda resting players for the Finals??

Did you miss ^ and about's post Observer? It's clear that Carlisle's 100+ point win was a result of the 23rd man.

^ and about is it the same umpire in the ressies and league or different umpires?

In the games I have watched previously Carlisle have got 3 separate umpires 1 for each grade. Maybe they only had 1 umpire all day against Noranda. Hope things were not as bad as up and about posted about the games at Carlisle. It would be very unfair if Noranda had another club cheating / contriving results against them.

3 separate umpires yes.

Sir James Hird- Can you read properly mate? My post clearly quotes that regardless of the 23rd mans strong performance in the league game, the result would have be much the same. I couldn't understand why he thinks he needs to give a side with that sort of talent any unwarranted favours.

The reserves game was definitely effected by the their 23rd man and I think everyone involved will openly admit that was the case. Given this game was umpired by fair mutual umpires it would have been a cracker, not saying hawks would have definitely have won but it would have gone down to the wire.

I am giving Carlisle the respect they deserve as a quality club, however, I think even they will agree there will be a few vacant umpiring positions down there in 2015.

They're not going to sack their old president who is the reserves umpire.
