Some clubs seem to be going better with the reserves than the league sides are clubs stacking the reserves for a premiership !!!!

Which side are you referring to Desert? Always happens. If league cant make finals or they do enough to stay in grade. Or even if relegation is inevitable.

this comes up every year, and I can speak from indemnity as our league boys are playing finals while ressies may not get there, and was the same last year

BUT... in my opinion, I think it would be silly of a club not to maximise their chances in a ressies side if league are definitely out of finals. I think the league states if you have played more league games then ressies games you can’t play ressies finals, so not as if you are stacking, but any players that are on the fringe that have come in and out, it would be prudent for any club to ensure they qualify as many players as possible to give themselves the best possible opportunity. So if that means in the next two weeks some players are playing 2's instead of ones to ensure they qualify, no problems with it, not like they are playing their whole league side in the ressies and to be fair if they have come in and out of ressies all year they deserve their spot any way

not anymore bulldog.

as long as you play 5 games in reserves you can play reserves.

If you have thirds or fourths then all those guys are eligble to play up higher too.

Swan Athletic are dropping a few players back to qualify them for a tilt at the A reserves flag.

cheers Viper, that is crap from the league as allows stacking.

not only de equalises the competition, but some poor ressies bloke will be missing out on spots for a league player who has played most weekends at 2.30pm. In that case I think clubs would have to use their judgement as to who deserves to run out there, although in saying that, it is the coaches job to play the best possible team, so if the rules allow for it, as coach are paid for results so need to use your resources to maximise success!

Its sucks that clubs do that but if u want to win a flag thats what they do. Iknow a few years back dianella morley always stack their ressie all the time and their league would go down.

While I know some clubs do this, at the end of the day history only judges clubs on league flags. You never hear clubs talk about reserves premierships, all clubs only talk about their league flags.

I guess this just shows the mentality of clubs, if your not trying to win with your league side, because your stacking your reserves, are you really doing the best long term for the development of your club at league level?

So what if a club for example wins the A reserves grand final, if their league team doesn't win enough games that club wont be in A grade next year.....Not sure if that's what clubs should be aiming for?
