What a weekend for C2.

Two cracking games between 4 of the top 5 sides and Swan Valley getting a much needed win in an upset against Warnbro.

The top 5 looks to be set now, with Carlisle likely to take the Minor Premiership with a 6-point gap on second placed Canning Vale. Another 10-points adrift are the Lions and the much fancied Bassendean side. Mosman Park look likely to have sewn up a spot in the finals after their win against us as well.

Would love to hear some write ups this week - particularly Basso v Carlisle and Valley v Warnbro.

Mosman Park vs Canning Vale;

Colts;
Battle of two lowly sides in the Colts competition. Canning Vale came out firing and kicked the first few to gain a 5-goal lead just before half time. Mosman Park then returned the favour in the second half and put some good footy together to run over the top of the Cougars and record a great win for their boys. Watching on, I could see it meant a great deal to the Mossie Park Colts to get that win. Disappointing from our Colts who continue their poor season after last years Flag.

Reserves;
When you have a forward capable of kicking big bags like the one Canning Vale have, he can be very hard to stop and can win you matches of his own boot. On Saturday again, he proved to be the difference with his bag of 9-goals. Today, he becomes a father for the first time!!! Good hard game to watch, both sides tried hard but in the end the Cougars got the result - big game this week vs Swan Valley as they look to sew up a finals spot.

League;
Cracking game, regardless of the factors we cannot control, the game itself was a cracker and the reason we play footy, to play under that sort of pressure and atmosphere.
Yes, we were undermanned,
Yes, we played poorly,
Yes, Mosman Parks umpire is THAT bad, and
Yes, the Ladies of Mosman Park could be heard suburbs away
BUT most importantly,
YES, Mossie Park played the better footy and deserved their win. They have two very good midfielders who tore us a new rectum all day (Numbers 20 & 57 I think) and they have a forward who can kick it 60m and barely misses. They are a dangerous side as finals loom.

Only down side, NO BURGERS at the Canteen!! What am I supposed to soak up Friday nights alcohol with if there are no burgers?? After their umpire, the lack of burgers needs to be rectified.... Priorities, Mossie, priorities.
Loves kicking goals, passing them off is only an option.

Always good write up LAG.

Great day down at basso with Carlisle taking the points in all grades
Colts and league two close hard games. Reserves bit of a blow out.

League game was hard fought all quarters lead changing a few times after half time. Basso went
Into the final quarter with a 2 goal lead goals going back n forth with Carlisle getting up by 10 point with couple minutes left. Basso brought it back under a goal with 30secs left but Carlisle too strong held it up for the close.
Good game to watch from both sides with some great shots on goal.

With canningvale going down to mossies pretty much gives Carlisle a good buffer from the other teams in the 5.
2/3/4/5 will be good to see next couple weeks results see who finishes where

Good write up loves a goal...

Spot on it was a cracking game of footy, last quarter was intense with players out on there feet and the crowd really getting involved.

Mossies got the jump with the first 3 goals which canning vale slowly pegged back to go in just a couple points down at the main break.
3rd quarter was goal for goal as it all came down to the last stanza.... enter loves a goal who prior to this had the yips( but was also CV most dangerous forward) popped up with 2 goals to put canning vale a couple up before mossies kicked 2 in a few minutes to lead with only a minute on the clock.
Canning vale CHF had the glory shot from the boundary with only 10 seconds remaining but his banana kick missed. Great game great win...
Canning vale a fit hard running skilful side that will play a big part in September.

very interesting weekend of footy. top 5 look a lot closer than what it was 3-4 weeks ago. Finals will be very close!

with SNESA and Swan Valley winning this week, can either avoid relegation?

Thoughts????

Statistically, unlikely that the Valley will avoid relegation. They have Canning Vale and Carlisle in the next two rounds from memory. making it VERY difficult to make up 8-points plus percentage on Warnbro.

SNESA, they are half a chance, have a slightly easier draw than Valley coming home, but again, I would think it is unlikely they will be able to avoid going down.

Yeah just had a look at the run home.

SNESA will need to beat both Noranda and Swan Valley, which isn't that unrealistic considering they knocked both of them off in the first round of fixtures.

They would still need Warnbro or CWP to lose all of their remaining games, which isn't unrealistic as well considering Warnbro only play teams above them. But one win from either, or a loss to Noranda in a fortnight would be the knockout blow to SNESA.

Swan Valley will be in C3 next year.

Would be an escape of massive proportions if SNESA sneak out of the mess their results found themselves in earlier this season.

How is Swan Valleys "dung-heap" holding up these days?

Is it as muddy as it was in the past?

Valley v Warnbro

Colts

Very entertaining game played. many lead changes throughout the game with the valley going into the last quarter with a 15 point point lead only for warnbro to hit back with fresher legs and run over the valley in the last term. This leaves the valley colts still searching for their first win. Lots of talent coming through which gives the valley something to build on. Good to see warnbro make the trip up and stick around and support each other.

Reserves

Good hard fought game between these two sides, didn't catch much of the game myself but in the end valley too good on the day, have them pushing for a finals spot/ chance.

League

Game of the day quite easily. like the colts game many lead changes throughout. the game seem to be played in quarters with warnbro taking out the first quarter quite easily with the valley hitting back later. Last quarter was a hell of a fight. Warnbro had the lead in the last quarter with the valley digging deep and piling on 8 unanswered goals in the last term to win by 4 or 5 goals. excellent again to see lots of support for both teams and was one of the most enjoyable games to be involved in. valley no chance of finals but can hopefully avoid going down a grade (unlikely)
